Toronto International Boat Show
The Toronto International Boat Show is an annual boat show held in January at the Enercare Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1959, and is the largest indoor show held in North America. In 2019, it featured 550 vendors exhibiting 1,200 boats and boating accessories. It is operated by Canadian Boat Shows Inc., which also operates the Vancouver International Boat Show. The show features an indoor lake, described as the world's largest. It has hosted the Toronto Indoor Wakeboard Championships since 2019, which awards a cash prize and world series points for the Wakeboard World Championships. The 2020 event had 69,530 visitors. Among its featured exhibits was Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel, an Eastern gray squirrel that is prohibited by municipal bylaw regulations from being held in captivity, and thus cannot be used in "mobile educational programs" or "mobile live shows". Enercare Centre
The Enercare Centre, formerly known as the Direct Energy Centre and originally the National Trade Centre, is an exhibition complex located at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is used by the Canadian National Exhibition and the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, as well as by various trade shows. In 2015, it hosted several sport competitions and the broadcasting centre for the 2015 Pan American Games. The naming rights for the complex are currently owned by energy services company Enercare Inc., a subsidiary of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners. Twiggy The Water-Skiing Squirrel
Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel is an animal novelty act, featuring a squirrel who skis around a heated pool. The act began in 1979 by Chuck and Lou Ann Best and started with an appearance on ''Real People''. It has been featured on numerous television shows, newspaper articles, and websites. The Bests live in Sanford, Florida. They found an orphaned squirrel after Hurricane David and raised it as a family pet who would ride on their shoulders even as they dipped in the pool. Having purchased a remote-controlled boat for his daughter, Chuck demurred handing over the controls, joking that he had to teach Twiggy to water-ski; the joke was soon taken seriously, albeit with no initial intent of publicity. The eastern gray squirrel (''Sciurus carolinensis''), also known, particularly outside of North America, as simply the grey squirrel, is a tree squirrel in the genus ''Sciurus''. It is native to eastern North America, where it is the most prodigious and ecologically essential natural forest regenerator.
