Tornion Palloveikot
Tornion Palloveikot, ''Torneå PV'' or ''ToPV'' is a Finnish sports club in Tornio, founded in 1935. The club is mainly active playing bandy but also floorball and used to have a section for association football too. The club's home games are nowadays played in Gränsvallen, a town near Haparanda in Sweden. Together with the Haparanda-based club Haparanda SKT, a joint team called HaparandaTornio Bandy was created to play in the Swedish league system, but ToPV has also kept on playing in the Finnish Bandyliiga The Bandyliiga (; 'Bandy League') is the top level of men's bandy in Finland. Tornio
Tornio (; sv, Torneå; sme, Duortnus ; smn, Tuárnus) is a city and municipality in Lapland, Finland. The city forms a cross-border twin city together with Haparanda on the Swedish side. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). Floorball
Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with sticks and a plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. HT Bandy ( sv, HaparandaTornio Bandyförening; fi, Haaparanta-Tornion Palloveikot) was a Swedish-Finnish bandy club. The Bandyliiga (; 'Bandy League') is the top level of men's bandy in Finland. The league was founded in 1908 as the Jääpallon SM-sarja ('Bandy Finnish Championship Series') and the present name has been used since the 1991–92 season. Finnish bandy champion is the title given to the team winning the play-off at the end of Bandyliiga, the highest bandy league in Finland.
