Torben Giehler
Torben Giehler (born 1973) is a German abstract artist. Giehler was born in 1973 in Bad Oeynhausen, West Germany. He is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In 1999, he attended the New York Studio Program. He is the recipient of the James William Paige Fund and the Clarissa Bartlett Scholarship. In 2008, he was awarded the Falkenrot Preis from the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin Giehler is known for his geometric abstractions. "He is fascinated by virtual spaces which, even from the outset, always illustrate realities that are just possibilities – imaginary worlds floating between planning, construction, and unconstrained fiction." Bad Oeynhausen
Bad Oeynhausen () is a spa town on the southern edge of the Wiehengebirge in the district of Minden-Lübbecke in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe, East-Westphalia-Lippe region of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The closest larger towns are Bielefeld (39 kilometres southwest) and Hanover (80 km east). History In the village of Bergkirchen, which belongs to Bad Oeynhausen, a wellspring sanctuary existed in pre-Christian (Saxon) times at the local crossing of the Wiehengebirge, which was replaced in the 9th century by a church. Today's church is a subsequent building. On the church and the downhill-situated Widukind spring plates explain this further. A few metres from the church a 13th-century timbered homestead can still be found. In 753 Pepin the Short, according to the Royal Frankish Annals, stopped over ''ad locum qui dicitur Rimiae'', so that Rehme is commonly accepted as the oldest part of town. Founded in 1979, the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) is a non-collecting contemporary art museum located in Aspen, Colorado. AAM exhibitions include drawings, paintings, sculptures, multimedia installations and electronic media. Aspen Art Museum Building Previously housed in a converted hydroelectric plant at 590 North Mill Street, the Aspen Art Museum (AAM) opened its new facility to the public at 637 East Hyman Avenue on August 9, 2014, . The building is designed by architect Shigeru Ban, recipient of the 2014 Pritzker Prize for Architecture. It is Ban's first US museum to be constructed. The Kunsthaus Zürich is in terms of area the biggest art museum of Switzerland and houses one of the most important art collections in Switzerland, assembled over the years by the local art association called '. The collection spans from the Medieval art, Middle Ages to contemporary art, with an emphasis on Swiss art. The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is an art museum beside the National Mall, in Washington, D.C., the United States.
