Tor Ottar Karlsen
Tor Ottar Karlsen (born 13 March 1950) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Rolvsøy and grew up in Åsgårdstrand. From 1980 to 1992 he was involved in local politics in Lier, and from 1992 to 1996 he chaired the county chapter of the Labour Party. From 1994 to 1996, during Brundtland's Third Cabinet, he was a political advisor in the Ministry of Children and Family Affairs. Following the 1999 elections, Karlsen became the new county mayor (''fylkesordfører'') of Buskerud. He was re-elected in 2003, but stepped down before the 2007 election. Norwegian Labour Party
The Labour Party ( nb, Arbeiderpartiet; nn, Arbeidarpartiet; A/Ap; se, Bargiidbellodat), formerly The Norwegian Labour Party ( no, Det norske Arbeiderparti, DNA), is a social-democratic political party in Norway. It is positioned on the centre-left of the political spectrum, and is led by Jonas Gahr Støre. Buskerud Politicians
Buskerud () is a former county and a current electoral district in Norway, bordering Akershus, Oslo, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Telemark and Vestfold. The region extends from the Oslofjord and Drammensfjorden in the southeast to Hardangervidda mountain range in the northwest. The county administration was in modern times located in Drammen. Buskerud was merged with Akershus and Østfold into the newly created Viken County on 1 January 2020. On the 23 February 2022 Viken County Council voted in a 49 against 38 decision to submit an application to the Norwegian government for a county demerger. Roger Ryberg
Roger Ryberg (born 16 April 1952 in Kirkenes) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He has held the position as county mayor of Viken since 2020. He previously served as county mayor of Buskerud from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2015 to 2019. Following the 2007 election, Ryberg became the new county mayor (''fylkesordfører'') of Buskerud. Behind him was a coalition of the Labour Party, the Socialist Left Party, the Centre Party and the Liberal Party, who kept the right-wing candidate Mette Lund Stake at bay with 22 versus 21 votes in the county council. Before being elected county mayor, Ryberg had been mayor of Hurum municipality. He also served as a deputy representative to the Parliament of Norway from Buskerud during the term 1989–1993. Following the 2019 Norwegian local election, he was elected as the county mayor of the newly established Viken county. Buskerud County Municipality
Buskerud County Municipality ( no, Buskerud fylkeskommune) was the regional governing administration of the old Buskerud county in Norway. The county municipality was established in its most recent form on 1 January 1976 when the law was changed to allow elected county councils in Norway. The county municipality was dissolved on 1 January 2020, when Buskerud was merged with the neighboring counties of Akershus and Østfold, creating the new Viken county which is led by the Viken County Municipality. The administrative seat is located in Drammen and the county mayor was Roger Ryberg. The main responsibilities of the county municipality included the running of the 13 upper secondary schools. Rolvsøy
Rolvsøy is a village, an island, and a former municipality in Viken county, Norway. It was created by a split from Tune on 1 January 1911. At that time Rolvsøy had a population of 2,381. On 1 January 1994 Rolvsøy was incorporated into the municipality of Fredrikstad, the neighboring municipality to the south. Prior to the merger Rolvsøy had a population of 5,947. The Tune ship, a viking ship dating from ca. 900 and now exhibited in the Viking Ship Museum in Bygdøy, Oslo was found in Rolvsøy in 1867. It was so named because it was found in a boat burial mound on Rolvsøy which was a part of Tune at that time. The name The Norse form of the name was (probably) ''*Rolfsøy''. Country-wide local elections for seats in municipality and county councils were held throughout Norway on 10 September 2007, with some areas polling on 9 September as well. For most places this meant that two elections, the municipal elections and the county elections ran concurrently. In addition, several municipalities held direct mayoral elections.
