Svilajnac
Svilajnac ( sr-cyr, Свилајнац, ) is a town and municipality located in the Pomoravlje District of central Serbia. The population of the town is 9,131 inhabitants, while the municipality has 23,391 inhabitants. It is located south-east of Belgrade, on the banks of the river Resava, and bordering the river Morava. Its name stems from the word for silk in Serbian. History Svilajnac was first mentioned in Ottoman records in 1467 as a village with a hundred households. The village, and later town, gained prominence through its silk production, from which it derives its name (''svila'', "silk"). Located in central Serbia, it flourished as a trading center, where silk, wool and livestock were traded. Svilajnac is the birthplace of the First Serbian Uprising revolutionary Stevan Sinđelić. Goran Bunjevčević ( sr-cyr, Горан Буњевчевић, ; 17 February 1973 – 28 June 2018) was a Serbian footballer who played as a defender in Serbia, England and the Netherlands. Playing career Club career Tottenham Hotspur Bunjevčević joined Tottenham Hotspur in May 2001 from Red Star Belgrade for a reported fee of £5 million. He made his Premier League debut on 18 August against Aston Villa in a 0–0 draw. In September of the 2001-02 season Tottenham played Chelsea in the league and Bunjevčević suffered a fractured cheekbone which left him out of the squad till December. Srđan Mrkušić
Srđan Mrkušić (May 26, 1915 – October 30, 2007) was a Serbian football goalkeeper, legendary "third back" and forestry engineer. With a long professional football career that spanned more than two decades, he is known for representing Yugoslavia at the 1950 World Cup as well as for being one of only seven footballers who represented both the pre and post World War II national team. He also went down in history as one of the founders of Red Star Belgrade football club in early March 1945 and the first goalkeeper of the Serbian nation team. Simultaneous to his football career, Mrkušić managed to earn a university degree in forestry. Following the end of his football playing days, he began working as an engineer. Vladica Popović
Vladimir "Vladica" Popović (; 17 March 1935 – 10 August 2020) was a Serbian professional footballer and manager. The biggest success in his coaching career was winning the Intercontinental Cup with Red Star Belgrade in 1991. Born in Zemun, Popović started playing at local side Jedinstvo but his talent was spotted while he was still very young and giants Red Star Belgrade brought him to their youth team where he will later play for more than a decade becoming team captain and also regular member of the Yugoslav national team. He was part of the team that won the silver medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Popović began coaching football in Venezuela in the 1970s, leading Portuguesa FC, Caracas F.C. and Deportivo Italia.
