Tope (film)
''Tope'' () is a 2016 Indian Bengali-language psychological drama film directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta and produced by Pawan Kanodia. The film is based on a same name short story of Narayan Gangopadhyay. The film premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and was released on 5 May 2017 under the banner of Ava Film Productions Pvt. Ltd. Plot The plot revolves around three parallel stories in the style of magic realism. There is an eccentric King of rural India who can go to any extent to fulfill his dreadful wishes. Munni, a teenage girl and tightrope walker, lives with her mother. Goja, the postman who lives in jungle and suffers from meaninglessness of life. Buddhadeb Dasgupta (11 February 1944 – 10 June 2021) was an Indian filmmaker and poet best known for his Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali-language films like ''Bagh Bahadur'', ''Tahader Katha'', ''Charachar'' and ''Uttara (film), Uttara''. Five of his films have won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film, ''Bagh Bahadur'' (1989), ''Charachar'' (1993), ''Lal Darja'' (1997), ''Mondo Meyer Upakhyan'' (2002) and ''Kaalpurush (2005 film), Kaalpurush'' (2008), while ''Dooratwa'' (1978) and ''Tahader Katha'' (1993) have won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali. Krishnendu Adhikari
Krishnendu Adhikari (Bengali: কৃষ্ণেন্দু অধিকারী; born: 2 January 1982) is an Indian actor, director and producer who primarily works in Bengali theatre and the Bengali Film Industry. He co-founded the Kolkata-based performance collective Behala Project Prometheus in 2016. He is dedicated towards revitalizing political and movement-based theatre in India.
