Toomas Turb
Toomas Turb (born 31 January 1957) is an Estonian athletics competitor. He was born in Surju, Pärnu County. In 1980 he graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical Institute Tallinn University (TLU; et, Tallinna Ülikool, ''TLÜ'') is a public research university in Estonia. Located in the centre of Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia, Tallinn University is one of the three largest institutions of higher education ...'s Faculty of Physical Education. He started his sporting exercising in 1969, coached by Ain Koovit. Later his coaches were Rein Rooks and Olav Karikosk. In 1981 he won gold medal at Athletics at the 1981 Summer Universiade – Men's 10,000 metres. He is multiple-times Estonian champion in different running disciplines. The Universiade is an international multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a portmanteau of the words "University" and "Olympiad". The Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, en, International University Sports Federation) is responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 25. It was founded in 1949 as the world governing body of national university sports organizations and currently has 174 member associations (National University Sport Federations) from five continents.
