Tony Vessey
Anthony William Vessey (born 28 November 1961) is an English former footballer who played as a full-back. He started his career at Brighton & Hove Albion, but made just one appearance and was released in 1982. He subsequently played for Vasalund in Sweden, and in non-league football with Steyning Town, Worthing, Crawley Town and Burgess Hill Town. Vessey also had a spell as player-manager at Crawley Town. Career Vessey was born in Derby and played youth football for Derby Boys before joining Brighton & Hove Albion as an apprentice in 1978. He signed a professional contract with the club in 1979, made his debut for Brighton against Coventry City on 7 March 1981, before being released at the end of the following season, having only made 1 appearance for the club. He subsequently joined Vasalund in Sweden, before spells at Steyning Town and Worthing, spending four years at the latter. He joined Crawley Town in 1987, and became club captain. Derby
Derby ( ) is a city and unitary authority area in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the banks of the River Derwent in the south of Derbyshire, which is in the East Midlands Region. Hove
Hove is a seaside resort and one of the two main parts of the city of Brighton and Hove, along with Brighton in East Sussex, England. Originally a "small but ancient fishing village" surrounded by open farmland, it grew rapidly in the 19th century in response to the development of its eastern neighbour Brighton, and by the Victorian era it was a fully developed town with borough status. Neighbouring parishes such as Aldrington and Hangleton were annexed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The neighbouring urban district of Portslade was merged with Hove in 1974. In 1997, as part of local government reform, the borough merged with Brighton to form the Borough of Brighton and Hove, and this unitary authority was granted city status in 2000. The 1991–92 FA Cup was the 111th season of the world's oldest knockout football competition, The Football Association Challenge Cup, or FA Cup for short. Liverpool beat Sunderland 2–0 in the final to take their 5th FA Cup trophy. The appearance in the Cup Final of Sunderland, a Level 2 team, marked the first time in 10 years that a team outside Level 1 of the English football pyramid appeared in the final game. Sunderland is one of only eight non-Level 1 teams to win the FA Cup, a mark they achieved in the 1973 FA Cup Final. This was the first FA Cup competition to use penalties to decide games still tied after extra time in a replayed match.
