Tony Stamas (born 1966) was an American politician from Michigan. Stamas was a member of Michigan House of Representatives and a state senator. Early life On April 9, 1966, Stamas was born in Midland, Michigan. Education In 1988, Stamas earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Michigan State University. Career Since 1998, Stamas was a Republican member of Michigan House of Representatives. In 2002, Stamas was elected to the state senate. Personal life Stamas' wife is Sara Stamas. Michigan's 36th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 36th district was created with the adoption of the 1963 Michigan Constitution, as the previous 1908 state constitution only permitted 34 senatorial districts. It has been represented by Republican Michele Hoitenga since 2023, succeeding fellow Republican Jim Stamas. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election. Michigan State University (Michigan State, MSU) is a public university, public Land-grant university, land-grant research university in East Lansing, Michigan. It was founded in 1855 as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, the first of its kind in the United States. Jim Stamas
Jim Stamas (born February 17, 1965) was a member of the Michigan State Senate and former Majority Floor Leader of the Michigan House of Representatives. He was inaugurated in the Michigan Senate on January 1, 2015 and left office on January 1, 2022. A Republican, he represented District 36 in the Senate and before that represented District 98 in the House, and is from Midland.
