Tony Nicholas
Anthony Wallace Long Nicholas (16 April 1938 – 25 September 2005) was an English professional footballer who scored 42 goals from 133 appearances in the Football League playing as an inside forward for Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion and Leyton Orient. He also played in the Southern League for Chelmsford City, Dartford, Cambridge United, Gravesend & Northfleet and Folkestone. Football career After spending time on the club's ground staff, Nicholas turned professional with First Division champions Chelsea in May 1955. He was capped by England at youth level: against a Denmark youth XI in October 1955, he scored three times in a 9–2 victory and, according to ''The Times correspondent, "had a rare eye for the target and a left foot of great power". West Ham
West Ham is an area in East London, located east of Charing Cross in the west of the modern London Borough of Newham. Football League First Division
The Football League First Division was a division of the Football League in England from 1888 until 2004. It was the top division in the English football league system from the season 1888–89 until 1991–92, a century in which the First Division's winning club became English men's football champions. The First Division contained between 12 and 24 clubs, playing each other home and away in a double round robin. The competition was based on two points for a win from 1888 until the increase to three points for a win in 1981. After the creation of the Premier League, the name First Division was given to the second-tier division (from 1992). The name ceased to exist after the 2003–04 First Division season. Bobby Laverick
Robert Laverick (born 11 June 1938) is an English former professional footballer who scored 26 goals from 96 appearances in the Football League playing on the left wing for Chelsea, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Coventry City. Laverick was born in Castle Eden, County Durham. He joined Chelsea's youth set–up in 1953 and was part of their 1954–55 South East Counties Youth League winning and FA Youth Cup semi-final teams. In November 1954 he played one match for the England Youth team, scoring against the Netherlands. Laverick played seven matches in the Football League First Division for Chelsea in 1957, but his progress was interrupted by two years National Service in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Johnny Goodchild
Johnny Goodchild (2 January 1939 – 25 August 2011) was a professional footballer who scored 71 goals from 238 appearances in the Football League playing as an inside forward for Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion, York City and Darlington. Career Goodchild was born in Sherburn Hill, County Durham. He worked as a miner and played for Ludworth Juniors before signing for Sunderland. He scored on his first-team debut, on 4 September 1957 in a 3–2 home defeat of Leicester City in the First Division, and produced 16 goals the following season. He then fell out of favour, and, despite scoring a hat-trick away at Leeds United in February 1961, his first game of the 1960–61 season, never appeared for the club again. Ted Drake
Edward Joseph Drake (16 August 1912 – 30 May 1995) was an English football player and manager. As a player, he first played for Southampton but made his name playing for Arsenal in the 1930s, winning two league titles and an FA Cup, as well as five caps for England. Drake is Arsenal's joint fifth highest goalscorer of all time. He also holds the record for the most goals scored in a top flight game in English football, with seven against Aston Villa in December 1935. A former centre forward, Drake has been described as a "classic number 9" and as a "strong, powerful, brave and almost entirely unthinking" player who "typified the English view." Frank Blunstone
Frank Blunstone (born 17 October 1934) is an English former footballer who played as an outside left for Crewe Alexandra, Chelsea and the England national team. Playing career After surprisingly rejecting Wolverhampton Wanderers in favour of his home-town club, he signed professional terms with Crewe in early 1952. Following a string of impressive performances in Division Three North, he was signed by Chelsea manager Ted Drake for £7,500 a year later while still doing national service. He made his Chelsea debut in a 3–2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, at White Hart Lane in February 1953, scoring the decisive third goal. Leslie William Allen (born 4 September 1937) is an English former football player and manager who played as a inside forward. Playing career Allen started his playing career at amateur club Briggs Sports where he helped them to reach the semi-finals of the Amateur Cup in 1954. In the same year Allen signed for Chelsea on his 17th birthday in September 1954 but never established his place in the Chelsea first-team. He scored 12 League goals for Chelsea in 44 appearances. Ron Tindall
Ronald Albert Ernest Tindall (23 September 1935 – 9 September 2012) was an English footballer who played as a striker. He was also an accomplished cricketer, playing for Surrey. Football career Tindall played youth football for Camberley Wanderers when the club formed in 1950. He began his senior career when he joined Camberley F.C. in 1952 at the age of 16. He only made two appearances for the first team before joining Chelsea's new youth system in 1953. Two years later, he scored on his full debut for the club against West Bromwich Albion in the First Division. Peter Brabrook
Peter Brabrook (8 November 1937 – 10 December 2016) was an English footballer who made nearly 500 appearances in the Football League playing for Chelsea, West Ham United and Orient, and was capped three times for the England national team. He played as a winger. Career Brabrook was born in Greenwich, London, and started his career at Ford United. He then moved on to Chelsea, making his debut during the 1954–55 season, during which the club won the league championship, though he only made three appearances. He established himself in the Chelsea first-team in the following years, making 271 appearances and scoring 57 goals in all competitions. Soon after Tommy Docherty took over as manager, Brabrook signed for West Ham United in 1962 for £35,000.
