Anton Binder, known as Tony (25 October 1868, Vienna - 18 January 1944, Nördlingen or Munich) was an Austrian-born Orientalist painter and illustrator. Dachau () is a Town#Germany, town in the Upper Bavaria district of Bavaria, a state in the southern part of Germany. It is a major district town—a ''Große Kreisstadt''—of the Regierungsbezirk, administrative region of Upper Bavaria, about north-west of Munich. It is now a popular residential area for people working in Munich, with roughly 45,000 inhabitants. August Scherl
August Scherl (24 July 1849 – 18 April 1921) was a German newspaper magnate. Life August Hugo Friedrich Scherl founded a newspaper and publishing concern on 1 October 1883, which from 1900 carried the name August Scherl Verlag. He was editor of the ''Berlin Local Advertiser'' (''Berliner Lokal-Anzeiger'') since 3 November 1883, and his publishing house started the weekly magazine ''Die Woche'' (The Week) in 1899. In 1904 he took over publication of the widely popular magazine ''Die Gartenlaube''. As a result his publishing company had the largest circulation of any in Germany at the time. Scherl was also active with theater projects, with lottery systems and a Gyro Monorail. These costly projects were not commercially successful, so he sold his interests in the German Publishers Association ( Deutscher Verlagsverein) and left it in 1914. Goethe Medal
The Goethe Medal, also known as the Goethe-Medaille, is a yearly prize given by the Goethe-Institut honoring non-Germans "who have performed outstanding service for the German language and for international cultural relations". It is an official decoration of the Federal Republic of Germany. The prize used to be given on 22 March, the anniversary of Goethe's death. Since 2009, it has been given on 28 August, the anniversary of Goethe's birth. The first awards were made in 1955. In the intervening years, through 2018, a total of 348 women and men from 65 countries have been so honored.
