Anthony Terrell Smith (born March 3, 1966), better known by his stage name Tone Lōc (), is an American rapper, actor, and producer. He is known for his raspy voice, his hit songs " Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina", for which he was nominated for a Grammy Award, and for being featured in "We're All in the Same Gang", a collaborative single by the West Coast Rap All-Stars. Early life Anthony Terrell Smith was born March 3, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Margaret, who managed a retirement home, and James Smith. His father died in 1972, and Tony and his three older brothers were raised by his mother. He was educated at the Hollywood Professional School. As a teenager he performed with the Triple A rap group. Production was handled by Matt Dike, Michael Ross and The Dust Brothers. ''Cool Hand Lōc'' is the second and final studio album by American rapper Tone Lōc. It was released on November 19, 1991 via Delicious Vinyl. Production was handled by Michael Ross, Matt Dike, Tony Joseph, Quicksilver, Def Jef, Sir Jinx and Tone Loc himself, with co-production from M. Walk and William Michael Tate. It features guest appearances from Kenyatta, Def Jef, El DeBarge and MC Wink Dog. The album peaked at number 46 on the ''Billboard'' Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Its lead single, " All Through the Night", peaked at number 80 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Wild Thing (Tone Lōc Song)
"Wild Thing" is a single by American rapper Tone Lōc from his 1989 album ''Lōc-ed After Dark''. The title is a reference to the phrase "doin' the wild thing," a euphemism for sex. According to producer Mario Caldato Jr., who engineered and mixed the song, producer Michael Ross was inspired by an utterance of Fab 5 Freddy “Come on baby let’s do the wild thing" in Spike Lee's ''She's Gotta Have It'', and asked Young MC to write the lyrics. Tone Lōc's song peaked at number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in February 1989, only behind Paula Abdul's breakthrough hit " Straight Up". It inspired at least two parodies (the ''Gilligan's Island''-themed "Isle Thing" by "Weird Al" Yankovic, which was Yankovic's first rap parody; and " Child King" by Christian band ApologetiX). "Funky Cold Medina" is a hip hop song written by Young MC, Matt Dike and Michael Ross, and first performed by American rapper, actor and producer Tone Lōc. It was the second single from Lōc's debut album, ''Lōc-ed After Dark'' (1989). The single was released on March 18, 1989, and rose to number three on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 the following month where it went platinum, selling over one million copies and becoming the second ever platinum-certified rap single (after '' Wild Thing'' from the same album being the first). It peaked on the UK Singles Chart at number 13 in May of that year. Food Rocks was an attraction at Epcot's '' The Land'' pavilion presented by Nestlé in the Walt Disney World Resort. The attraction, a musical stage show, with audio-animatronic figures, opened in 1994. Synopsis The show was themed as a benefit concert for good nutrition hosted by Fūd Wrapper, who was voiced by real-life rapper Tone Loc. However, the show was continually interrupted by the Excess, a junk food heavy metal band that detests nutrition. In the end, The Excess lost their power as Wrapper exclaimed, "No power? You guys have been unplugged! There's plenty of foods out there that are good to eat, but remember, always eat in moderation." The Audio-Animatronic characters were food items with human features. Animatronics refers to mechatronic puppets. They are a modern variant of the automaton and are often used for the portrayal of characters in films and in theme park attractions.
