Tomáš Kratochvíl
Tomáš Kratochvíl (born 19 December 1971, in Prague) is a retired Czech Republic, Czech race walking, race walker who represented the club USK Praha. In 1995 he participated at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics – Men's 20 kilometres walk, 1995 World Championships (20 km), but was disqualified. He also finished 34th at the 1995 IAAF World Race Walking Cup. In 1996 he finished 48th at the Athletics at the 1996 Summer Olympics - Men's 20 km walk, 1996 Olympic Games (20 km). He also competed at the 1997 IAAF World Race Walking Cup. He became Czech champion in 1997 (20 km). Race Walking
Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). There are two racewalking distances contested at the Summer Olympics: the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and 50 kilometres race walk (men only). Both are held as road events. The biennial World Athletics Championships also featured these two events, in addition to a 50 km walk for women, until 2019.
