Thomas Jackson Walker (born 20 February 1952) is an English former association footballer who played as a midfielder for Stoke City. Career Walker was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme and began his career with local side Stoke City. Due to Stoke having a large number of fixtures in the 1971–72 season he made two appearances for Stoke in April 1972, away at Chelsea and Manchester United. Newcastle-under-Lyme ( RP: , ) is a market town and the administrative centre of the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. The 2011 census population of the town was 75,082, whilst the wider borough had a population of 128,264 in 2016, up from 123,800 in the 2011 Census. The 1973–74 Southern Football League season was the 71st in the history of the league, an English football competition. Dartford won the championship, winning their third Southern League title, whilst Burton Albion, Stourbridge, Bath City and Wealdstone were all promoted to the Premier Division. The Northern Premier League is an English football league that was founded in 1968. It has four divisions: the Premier Division (which stands at level 7 of the English football league system), Division One East, Division One West and Division One Midlands (which stand at level 8). Geographically, the league covers all of Northern England and the northern/central areas of the Midlands, and western parts of East Anglia. The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. There are also attacking midfielders with limited defensive assignments.
