Tommy Johnson (footballer, Born 1901)
Thomas Clark Fisher Johnson (19 August 1901 – 28 January 1973) was an English footballer who played as either a centre forward or an inside forward. He started his professional career at Manchester City in 1919, and represented the club throughout the 1920s. Known for his powerful left foot shot, Johnson holds the record for the most goals scored by a Manchester City player in a single season, with 38 goals in 1928–29. He played for Manchester City in the 1926 FA Cup Final, and was a member of the City side which won the Second Division in 1927. Johnson signed for Everton in 1930, acting as a foil for the prolific centre-forward Dixie Dean. In four seasons at Everton, Johnson won the Second Division, the First Division and the FA Cup, before finishing his professional career with a short spell at Liverpool. Dalton-in-Furness is a town and former civil parish in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. In 2011 it had a population of 7,827. It is located north east of Barrow-in-Furness. Eli Fletcher (15 December 1887 – 6 August 1954) was an English footballer who played as a left-back for Crewe Alexandra, Manchester City, Watford, Sandbach Ramblers, and Ards. Horace Barnes
Horace Barnes (3 January 1891 – 12 September 1961) was an English footballer, who played for Derby County, Manchester City, Preston North End and Oldham Athletic. Early life Horace Barnes was born in Sheffield in 1891. He began his football career playing as an inside left for Wadsley Bridge. During the First World War, he worked in munitions and served in the Royal Garrison Artillery. Derby County In 1908 Jimmy Methven signed Horace for Derby County. Barnes made 166 appearances for Derby and scored 76 goals. He scored both goals for an English XI in a 2–0 victory over their Scottish counterparts in a Players' Union international on 20 April 1914. Frank Roberts (3 April 1893 – 23 May 1961) was an English professional footballer who played for Manchester City between 1922 and 1928. He could play either as an inside forward or a centre forward. Early life Roberts was born in Sandbach and began his football career playing for Sandbach Villa and Sandbach Ramblers. He was transferred to Crewe Alexandra and in 1914 Bolton Wanderers paid £200 for his services. Roberts guested for West Ham United during World War I, scoring 18 goals in 19 appearances between 1917 and 1919. He also guested for Brentford. Roberts was suspended and transfer-listed by Bolton during the 1922–23 season 'for taking over one of the principal hotels in that town'. He scored 80 goals in 168 appearances for the club. Hyde Road was a football stadium in West Gorton, Manchester, England. It was home to Manchester City F.C. and their predecessors from its construction in 1887 until 1923, when the club moved to Maine Road. It was named after Hyde Road, a road which begins at the east end of Ardwick Green South in Ardwick and runs east towards Hyde. At the boundary between Gorton and Denton it continues as Manchester Road. Before its use as a football ground, the site was an area of waste ground, and in its early days the ground had only rudimentary facilities. Tommy Browell
Thomas Browell (19 October 1892 – 5 October 1955) was an English footballer who played as a forward for Hull City, Everton, Manchester City and Blackpool. He is the eighth-highest Manchester City goalscorer of all time with 139 goals for the club. Early life Browell was born in Walbottle, Northumberland, in 1892. Career He started his career with Hull City, who were then in the Football League Second Division, who also had Browell's two brothers on their books. At Hull he gained the nickname "Boy" following a hat-trick against Stockport County as an 18-year-old in 1910.
