Tommy Green (footballer, Born 1913)
Thomas Green (12 May 1913 – 1997) was an English association football, footballer who played as an inside forward. Green was born in Droitwich, Worcestershire. His father, also named Tommy Green (footballer born 1863), Tommy Green, had a career as a footballer and had also played for West Bromwich Albion. Green Jr attended St Peter's School in Worcester before playing for Droitwich Town F.C., Droitwich Town, Droitwich Spa F.C., Droitwich Spa and Droitwich Comrades F.C., Droitwich Comrades. He signed for West Bromwich Albion as an amateur in October 1931 and turned professional in March 1932. Green made his debut against Leeds United in February 1934 and went on to score five goals in 16 appearances. Droitwich
Droitwich Spa (often abbreviated to Droitwich ) is an historic spa town in the Wychavon district in northern Worcestershire, England, on the River Salwarpe. It is located approximately south-west of Birmingham and north-east of Worcester. The town was called Salinae in Roman times, then later called Wyche, derived from the Anglo-Saxon Hwicce kingdom, referred to as "Saltwich" according to Anglo-Saxon charters, with the Droit (meaning "right" in French) added when the town was given its charter on 1 August 1215 by King John. The "Spa" was added in the 19th century when John Corbett developed the town's spa facilities. The River Salwarpe running through Droitwich is likely derived from ''sal'' meaning "salt" and ''weorp'' which means "to throw up" - i.e. "the river which throws up salt" - which overflows from the salt brines. Worcestershire
Worcestershire ( , ; written abbreviation: Worcs) is a county in the West Midlands of England. The area that is now Worcestershire was absorbed into the unified Kingdom of England in 927, at which time it was constituted as a county (see History of Worcestershire). Over the centuries the county borders have been modified, but it was not until 1844 that substantial changes were made. Bromyard is a town in Herefordshire, England, in the valley of the River Frome, Herefordshire, River Frome. In professional football, a transfer is the action taken whenever a player under contract moves between clubs. It refers to the transferring of a player's registration from one association football club to another. In general, the players can only be transferred during a transfer window and according to the rules set by a governing body (fulfilling the requirements of FIFA, continental and national bodies regulating the purchasing and selling clubs). A negotiated transfer fee is agreed financial compensation paid from an interested club, to the club that possesses the player's exclusive contracted playing rights. When a player moves from one club to another, their old contract is terminated whilst the player and their new destination club will both negotiate on new contract terms (or have earlier mutually agreed on the personal terms). Thomas Walter Green (August 1863 – 2 October 1923) was an English footballer, known for scoring Aston Villa's first goal in the Football League. Playing career He played for Dreadnought F.C., Mitchell St George's, Aston Unity F.C., Great Lever, Small Heath Alliance, Church Villa F.C., West Bromwich Albion, Kidderminster Harriers and Worcester Rovers as well as guesting for several teams, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club he had scored Villa's first league goal against. He played in Albion's 1886 and 1887 FA Cup finals, losing both (the latter against Villa). Season 1888-89 Tommy Green played one season in the Football League (1888-1889), the inaugural season.
