Tommy Bond
Thomas Ross Bond (September 16, 1926 – September 24, 2005) was an American actor, director, producer and writer. He was best known for his work as a child actor for two nonconsecutive periods on ''Our Gang'' (''Little Rascals'') comedies (first as "Tommy" and later as "Butch"). Also, he is noted for being the first actor to appear onscreen as "Superman's pal" Jimmy Olsen, having portrayed the character in the film serials ''Superman'' (1948) and ''Atom Man vs. Superman'' (1950). ''Merrie Melodies'' is an American animation, animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. starting in 1931, during the golden age of American animation, and ending in 1969. Then some new cartoons were produced from the late 1970s to the late 1990s, as well as other made productions beginning in 1972. As with its sister series, ''Looney Tunes'', it featured cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and Elmer Fudd. ''Bubbling Troubles'' is an American 1940 ''Our Gang'' short comedy film directed by Edward Cahn. It was the 187th ''Our Gang'' short (188th episode, 99th talking short, 100th talking episode, and 19th MGM produced episode) that was released. Plot Butch wins the heart of Darla, leaving heartbroken Alfalfa to cry in his alphabet soup. Mistaking the boy's doldrums for indigestion, Alfalfa's dad prepares to give his son a good dose of Settles-It Powder. Later on, the kids pay a visit to Butch's jerry-built chemistry lab where he is mixing up what he claims is an explosive. Recognizing the mixture as Settles-It Powder, Alfalfa offers himself as Butch's guinea pig, bravely downing the concoction in hopes of impressing Darla. Charles Joseph Parrott (October 20, 1893 – June 20, 1940), known professionally as Charley Chase, was an American comedian, actor, screenwriter and film director. He worked for many pioneering comedy studios but is chiefly associated with producer Hal Roach. Chase was the elder brother of comedian/director James Parrott. Darla Jean Hood (November 8, 1931 – June 13, 1979) was an American child actress, best known as the leading lady in the ''Our Gang'' series from 1935 to 1941. She was born in Leedey, Oklahoma, the only child of music teacher Elizabeth Davner, and James Claude Hood, who worked in a bank. ''Our Gang'' Hood's mother introduced her to singing and dancing at an early age, taking her to lessons in Oklahoma City. It was the 151st ''Our Gang'' short (152nd episode, 63rd talking short, and 64th talking episode) that was released. Plot Butch explains that he clobbers every kid in school to prove that he is in charge. By a fluke, weak-kneed Alfalfa is chosen to face Butch in the barnyard boxing ring—and he has only one day to train for the big bout. Spanky volunteers to be Alfalfa's trainer, which consists mostly of Alfalfa pulling him around in a little red wagon. Porky and Buckwheat have had "this will not end well" expressions on their faces the whole time.
