Tom Spillane Snr
Thomas Francis Spillane (1923 – 1 October 1964) was an Irish Gaelic footballer and Selector (sport), selector. At club level he played with Killarney Legion GAA, Killarney Legion, Templenoe GAA, Templenoe and Kenmare GAA (District Team), Kenmare and was also a member of the Kerry senior football team. Career Spillane first played Gaelic football as a students at St Brendan's College, Killarney, St Brendan's College in Killarney where he enjoyed Dunloe Cup and Bishop O'Sullivan Cup successes. At club level he was part of the Killarney Legion GAA, Killarney Legion team that won the Kerry Senior Football Championship, Kerry SFC title in 1946. Spillane later joined the Templenoe GAA, Templenoe club and was also a member of the Kenmare GAA (District Team), Kenmare district team that lost the 1952 and 1954 finals. Killarney Legion GAA
Killarney Legion are a Gaelic Athletic Association club from Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. The club was founded on a March evening in 1929 when a group of eleven men held a meeting in the then Temperance Hall in High Street, Killarney. History In the Kerry Senior Football Championship, Legion reached the 3rd round by beating John Mitchels of Tralee 0-16 to 1-6, then losing to rivals Dr. Crokes 1-16 to 0-9. Legion now have a new state of the art clubhouse and have just commenced the development of a stand aligning the southern side of the main pitch. The stature of the juvenile section of the club is at an all-time high at present. Legion's U14 team represented Kerry in the Feile competition of 2006 held in Wicklow and again in 2009 held in Kildare. Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Munster Championship and shortened to Munster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county Gaelic football competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, bar one, since the 1888 championship. The final, currently held on the fourth Saturday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Munster Cup. The 1975 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 89th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 25 May 1975 and ended on 28 September 1975. Dublin were the defending champions. London fielded a team in the senior championship for the first time. On 28 September 1975, Kerry won the championship following a 2-12 to 0-11 defeat of Dublin in the All-Ireland final. This was their 23rd All-Ireland title, their first in five championship seasons. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Tom Spillane
Tom Spillane (born 1962) was a Gaelic footballer who played for Templenoe and the Kerry county team in the 1980s. Career Maura Spillane gave birth to Tom in Templenoe, near Kenmare, County Kerry in 1962. He was — along with his brothers Pat and Mick — a key member of the successful Kerry Gaelic football teams of the 1980s. He won an All-Ireland Minor Football Championship medal in 1980 before first breaking into the county panel in 1981. He played with Kerry for the next eleven seasons, winning four All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals, five Munster Senior Football Championship medals, one Kerry Senior Football Championship and three All Stars. Mick Spillane
Mick Spillane (born 8 January 1957) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. Born to Maura in Templenoe, County Kerry, he played for his local club Templenoe and at senior level for the Kerry county team in the 1970s and 1980s. He is a seven-time All-Ireland SFC winner. Patrick Gerard Spillane (born 1 December 1955), better known as Pat Spillane, is an Irish former Gaelic football pundit and player. His National Football League (Ireland), league and All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, championship career at senior level with the Kerry county football team, Kerry county team spanned seventeen years from 1974 to 1991. Dinny Lyne
Denis J. Lyne (1920 – 29 November 2001) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for club side Killarney Legion and at inter-county level with the Kerry senior football team. Career Lyne first came to prominence as a Gaelic footballer as a member of the Kerry junior team that won the All-Ireland Junior Championship in 1941. He made his first appearance with the Kerry senior side during the 1944 Munster Championship. Lyne won three Munster Championship medals in total, however, the highlight of his brief inter-county career was the 1946 All-Ireland final replay defeat of Roscommon. He also lined out as team captain in the 1947 All-Ireland final defeat by Cavan at the Polo Grounds in New York. Jackie Lyne (1923 - 15 December 1993) was an Irish Gaelic football trainer, selector and player. His league and championship career at senior level with the Kerry county team spanned twelve seasons from 1943 to 1954. Born in Killarney, County Kerry, Lyne was raised in a family that had a strong association with the game of Gaelic football. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe) or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams.
