Tom Snyder
Thomas James Snyder (May 12, 1936 – July 29, 2007) was an American television personality, news anchor, and radio personality best known for his late night talk shows '' Tomorrow'', on the NBC television network in the 1970s and 1980s, and '' The Late Late Show'', on the CBS Television Network in the 1990s. Snyder was also the pioneer anchor of the prime time ''NBC News Update'', in the 1970s and early 1980s, which was a one-minute capsule of news updates in prime time. Early life Snyder was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Frank and Marie Snyder, who were of German, Cornish, and Irish descent. He received a Catholic upbringing, attending St. Agnes Elementary School and graduating from Jesuit-run Marquette University High School. The Westinghouse Broadcasting Company, also known as Group W, was the broadcasting division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. It owned several radio and television stations across the United States and distributed television shows for syndication. Westinghouse Broadcasting was formed in the 1920 as Westinghouse Radio Stations, Inc. It was renamed Westinghouse Broadcasting Company in 1954, and adopted the ''Group W'' moniker on May 20, 1963. The transmitter was off Dulany Avenue near the Savannah River. WBMQ's weekday schedule was made up of mostly syndicated conservative talk shows from the co-owned Westwood One Network. John Earl Fetzer (March 25, 1901 – February 20, 1991) was a radio and television executive who was best known as the owner of the Detroit Tigers from 1961 through 1983. Under his ownership, the 1968 Detroit Tigers season, 1968 Tigers won the 1968 World Series, World Series. Biography Born in 1901 in Decatur, Indiana, Fetzer moved with his mother to Lafayette, Indiana, after his father died when Fetzer was 2 years old.
