Tom Russell (DJ)
Tom Russell (born August 1948), known in the United Kingdom as "The Godfather of Rock", is a Scottish rock disc jockey and radio presenter who was born and educated in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. Russell spent some time in the Parachute Regiment (United Kingdom) and then running a chain of his own record shops, including the Bishopbriggs-based branch, 'Tom Russell's Record Shop'. His broadcasting career began when Richard Park invited him to Radio Clyde (1981 - 2006) where he hosted the long running Friday Night Rock Show. In this time he interviewed many including Ozzy Osbourne, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, and Metallica. Jay Crawford then invited him as first choice (2007 to 2014) to host shows on Rock Radio 96.3 which broadcast in the Glasgow and Central Scotland area. Iron Maiden
Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. While fluid in the early years of the band, the lineup for most of the band's history has consisted of Harris, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers. The band have released 41 albums, including 17 studio albums, 13 live albums, four EPs and seven compilations. They have also released 47 singles and 20 video albums. Troon
Troon is a town in South Ayrshire, situated on the west coast of Ayrshire in Scotland, about north of Ayr and northwest of Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Troon has a port with freight services and a yacht marina. Up until January 2016, P&O Ferries, P&O operated a seasonal ferry service to Larne. In May 2006, a ferry service to Campbeltown was added, although this was withdrawn the following year. WinterStorm
WinterStorm is a music festival held annually in the seaside town of Troon, South Ayrshire. History Since 2016 it has been held in Troon Town Hall, a location that overlooks the beach and the Firth of Clyde. The event is split over two stages, the Main Stage hosts the headline acts in the Concert Hall, it has a capacity of 600 standing plus 250 seated upstairs. The second stage, known as the Sessions Stage, has a capacity of 160 and hosts up and coming bands and artists as well as an acoustic event on the Sunday following WinterStorm; known as After the 'Storm. StormBreakers, a Battle of the Bands type event, has been held to give acts a chance to win a place on the Sessions Stage. Real Radio XS (Digital)
Real Radio XS (branded Rock Radio prior to September 2011) was a classic rock independent local radio service broadcast on DAB in various parts of the United Kingdom. It was formerly part of the Rock Radio group of stations owned by GMG Radio, and whilst initially a separate station, latterly carried programming sourced from 106.1 Real Radio XS in Manchester. When first launched, the digital service was known as Rock Radio North East, and was a dedicated digital-only service for the region which had its own programmes presented locally, broadcast from the complex at the Team Valley that also accommodated the group's regional FM stations Real Radio (North East) and 97.5 Smooth Radio. Metallica
Metallica is an American heavy metal band. Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi is an American Rock music, rock band formed in 1983 in Sayreville, New Jersey. It consists of singer Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Phil X, and bassist Hugh McDonald (American musician), Hugh McDonald. A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Ozzy Osbourne
John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne (born 3 December 1948) is an English singer, songwriter, and television personality. He rose to prominence during the 1970s as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, during which period he adopted the nickname "Prince of Darkness". Born and raised in Birmingham, Osbourne became a founding member of Black Sabbath in 1967, and sang on every album from their debut in 1970 to ''Never Say Die!'' in 1978. Radio Clyde
Radio Clyde is a group of two Independent Local Radio stations serving Glasgow and West Central Scotland. Radio Clyde is owned and operated by Bauer, based at studios in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire and forms part of Bauer's Hits Radio and Greatest Hits Radio Network of local stations. History Radio Clyde began broadcasting as the commercial radio station in Scotland at 10.30pm on Monday 31 December 1973. It was the first ILR station outside London, on 261 metres medium wave and 95.1 FM (later moving to 102.5 FM). Its original slogan was ''Radio Clyde, 261, all together now''.
