Tom Love (born February 17, 1953) is an American businessman, educator, and politician who served as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1991 to 1992. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Kansas's 3rd congressional district in the 2020 election, placing fifth in the Republican primary. James W. "Jim" Long (October 9, 1936–January 24, 1998) was an American politician who served in the Kansas House of Representatives as a Democrat from the 38th district. He was originally appointed to the seat to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of John F. Sutter. After a one-term absence in which the seat was held by Tom Love, Long reclaimed the seat in the 1992 election and served until his death in 1998. Overland Park ( ) is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, Kansas, it is one of four principal cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area and the most populous suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. Kansas's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Kansas. Located in eastern Kansas, the district encompasses all of Anderson, Franklin, Johnson and Miami counties and parts of Wyandotte County. The district includes the heart of the Kansas side of the Kansas City metropolitan area, including all of Overland Park, Leawood, Lenexa, Shawnee, Gardner and Olathe and parts of Kansas City.
