Tom Lancashire
Thomas Benjamin Lancashire (born 2 July 1985 in Bolton, Greater Manchester) is an English middle-distance runner. Lancashire represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 1500 m. Tom is a life member of Bolton Harriers and regularly races in club colours. Lancashire studied exercise science at Florida State University. Biography He went to Turton School in Bromley Cross, Bolton. He is a talented all round sportsman having previously taken part in many sports including football, swimming, cricket, ice hockey and snowboarding. He attributes his early success to his first coach Jack Caldwell who brought him into the sport. Tom is a massive Manchester United fan. Bolton
Bolton (, locally ) is a large town in Greater Manchester in North West England, formerly a part of Lancashire. A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish people, Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition. The urbanisation and development of the town largely coincided with the introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. 2012 European Athletics Championships
The 2012 European Athletics Championships were held in Helsinki, Finland between 27 June and 1 July 2012. This edition marks the beginning of a new two-year cycle of the European Athletics Championships which were previously held every four years. The decision to grant the games for Helsinki was made by the European Athletics Congress on 9 November 2009. Another city that showed interest in hosting the event was Nuremberg, Germany, however Helsinki was in pole position during the whole process. This was the third time that the city had hosted the event, 1971 and 1994 being the other occasions. The 2010 European Athletics Championships were the 20th edition of the European Athletics Championships, organised under the supervision of the European Athletic Association. The men's 1500 metres at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium between 15–19 August. Among the favoured athletes in the event were defending champion Bernard Lagat, European champion Mehdi Baala, and the Kenyan season leaders Asbel Kiprop, Haron Keitany and Augustine Choge.
