Tom King (Emmerdale)
Tom King is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', who appeared on the show from 29 February 2004 before being killed off on 25 December 2006 in a long-running "whodunit" storyline dubbed, "Who Killed Tom King?". He was last seen on 27 December 2006 as a dead body in a morgue. Throughout his time on the show he was portrayed by Kenneth Farrington. Farrington decided to leave the show in 2006 but reprised the role briefly as a ghost in a "''Text Santa''" special on 20 December 2013. Storylines Backstory Born into a family of successful businessmen, Thomas Albert King grew up in Emmerdale where his father Albert ran a successful business. Steve November (born Steven Frost) is a British television producer and executive. Originally known as Steve Frost during his early career, he became a writer for the Sky One drama ''Dream Team''. He also took roles as an assistant director until he became a scriptwriter on the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. He progressed to become the series producer, a role he then took on at ''Coronation Street'' and ''The Royal''. ''Text Santa'' was a charity initiative set up in 2011 by ITV to support UK-based charities during the Christmas period. The appeal to the public is to donate money mainly via text donation and profits from merchandise. The telethons have been hosted by popular ITV presenters including Phillip Schofield, Christine Bleakley, and Ant & Dec. Richard Stanley Thorp (2 January 1932 – 22 May 2013) was an English actor. He was best known for his 30-year tenure portraying Alan Turner in the ITV (TV network), ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' from 1982 to 2013. He also appeared in films such as ''The Dam Busters (film), The Dam Busters'' (1955) and ''The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1957 film), The Barretts of Wimpole Street'' (1957). Alan Turner is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera, ''Emmerdale'', played by Richard Thorp. He debuted on-screen on 23 March 1982. Thorp died on 22 May 2013 and the last scenes that Thorp filmed as Alan were aired on 4 June 2013 in a special hour-long episode dedicated to him. It was announced on 12 September 2013 that Alan would be killed off-screen in late October with his daughter Steph (Lorraine Chase) returning for his funeral.
