Tom Kelly (Gaelic Footballer)
Tom Kelly is a former Gaelic footballer from County Laois. His club is St Joseph's. He usually played at centre back for Laois and in 2003 won an All Stars Award and was part of the Laois team that won the Leinster Senior Football Championship title for the first time since 1946. Kelly twice travelled to Australia for the International Rules Series, where he was Ireland's player of the series in 2005. With St Joseph's, Kelly picked up two Laois Senior Football Championship medals. In January 2011, Kelly was forced to retire due to a neck injury he sustained the year before. St Joseph's GAA (Laois)
St Joseph's GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football club in County Laois, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It won nine Laois Senior Football Championship titles between 1973 and 2000. The club colours are yellow with blue trim and the main club grounds are located at Kellyville with a secondary grounds at Milltown. History Founded in 1954 as an underage club, it won the Laois minor and junior football titles in 1967, the minor title again in 1968, the Laois Intermediate Football Championship in 1969 and a further junior title in 1976. Then St Joseph's progressed to win nine Laois Senior Football Championship titles: in 1973, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1983, 1989, 1994, 1996 and 2000. Laois Senior Football Championship
The Laois Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by top-tier Laois GAA clubs. The Laois County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1888. Portarlington are the title holders (2022) defeating O'Dempsey's in the Final. Honours The trophy presented to the winners is the Jack Delaney Cup. The winners of the Laois Senior Championship qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship. They often do well outside the county, with the likes of Portlaoise (1971, 1976, 1982, 1987, 2004, 2009) among the clubs from Laois to win at least one Leinster Championship after winning the Laois Senior Football Championship. Leinster Minor Football Championship
The Leinster Minor Football Championship is the premier under-17 "knockout" competition in gaelic football played in the province of Leinster. 2017 was the final year of the minor under 18 football championship as it were replaced by an under 17 championship following a vote at the GAA congress on 26 February 2016. The current Leinster champions are Meath. The Leinster minor football championship is known as Fr. Larry Murray Trophy. The Cup is named after Fr. Larry Murray who was an underage GAA mentor in both Louth and Armagh, hence the Ulster Minor Football Championship is also named after Fr. Larry Murray. The Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor Football Championship is the premier under-17 "knockout" competition in Gaelic football played in Ireland. 2017 was the final year of the minor under 18 football championship as it were replaced by an under 17 championship following a vote at the GAA congress on 26 February 2016. Leinster Under-21 Football Championship
The Leinster GAA Football Under-20 Championship, known simply as the Leinster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county football competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in the province of Leinster. The championship was contested as the Leinster Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2016 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2018. It is sponsored by EirGrid. The Laois All-County Football League (ACFL) is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by Laois GAA clubs. There are seven divisions and teams are promoted and relegated according to their league standing each year. Prior to the inception of the All-County Football League, league competitions titled the Senior Football League, Intermediate Football League and Junior Football League were in place. These would have roughly equated to the current top three or four divisions in the ACFL.
