Tom Johnson (golfer)
Thomas Francis Johnson (born August 19, 1981) is an American professional golfer. Johnson was born in Sacramento, California. He turned professional in 2004 after graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Communication Studies. Professional career 2004 Johnson enjoyed success right away, winning medalist honors at the 2004 Canadian Tour Fall Qualifying Tournament in Ashburn, Ontario (northeast of Toronto). Shortly after, he entered the 2004 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament and was successful in advancing through the first and second stages. By getting to the final stage, Johnson received conditional status on the Nationwide Tour in 2005. 2005 On the Nationwide Tour in 2005 Johnson posted one top-10, a T9 finish at the Mark Christopher Charity Classic. At the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open he had a hole-in-one on No. 8 during the second round. He finished the season 105th on the money list. Bob Hope Chrysler Classic
The Desert Classic (currently known as The American Express for sponsorship reasons; previously known as the CareerBuilder Challenge, Palm Springs Golf Classic, the Bob Hope Desert Classic, the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, and the Humana Challenge) is a professional golf tournament in southern California on the PGA Tour. Played in mid-winter in the Coachella Valley (greater Palm Springs), it is part of the tour's early season "West Coast Swing." It previously had five rounds of competition (90 holes) rather than the standard of four rounds, and was known for its celebrity pro-am. For many years, the event was named for and hosted by entertainer Bob Hope and featured a number of celebrity participants. In 2012, the Desert Classic changed to a traditional 72-hole format over three different courses with a 54-hole cut, similar to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The Mexican Open ( es, Abierto Mexicano de Golf), also known as the Mexico Open and Abierto Mexicano de Golf, is the national open golf tournament of Mexico. History First played in 1944 at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, it was an event on the Tour de las Américas between 2003 and 2006, being co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour from 2004 to 2006. It became a Nationwide Tour event in 2008, and was rescheduled from December to January, which resulted in no tournament in 2007.
