Hayes formerly worked as an executive at Applied Materials, Inc. He is the author of two books on digital business and culture including ''Jump Point: How Network Culture is Revolutionizing Business'' and '' No Size Fits All: From Mass Marketing to Mass Handselling''. Tom Hayes (born October 1979) is a former trader for UBS and Citigroup who was sentenced to 14 years in prison (reduced to 11 years on appeal) for dishonestly driving manipulation of the London Interbank Offered Rate (Libor), a bank reported interest rate, to enhance his trading results, which became known as the Libor scandal. Hayes, in the course of his defence, asserted managers were aware of his actions, and even condoned them. At trial Hayes was diagnosed with mild Asperger syndrome. Early life Thomas Alexander William Hayes was born in West London to Nicholas and Sandra Hayes, and initially grew up in Hammersmith. Thomas Hayes (22 February 1890 – 19 February 1967) was an Australian politician. He was the Labor Party member for Melbourne in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1924 to 1955. Hayes was born in Ararat, Victoria to an Irish railway worker, Patrick Hayes, and his wife Sarah. He was educated at St Mary's School, and then followed his father into the railway industry, joining the Ararat branch of Victorian Railways, and was later transferred to Melbourne. Tom Hayes (born 16 February 1952) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Minister of State from 2013 to 2016. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Tipperary South constituency from 2001 to 2016. He was a Senator for the Agricultural Panel from 1997 to 2001. Hayes was educated at Mount Melleray College, Waterford, and Tipperaray Vocational School. He was elected in 1997 to the 21st Seanad for the Agricultural Panel. Tom Hayes is a retired American soccer forward who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League and American Indoor Soccer Association. Hayes graduated from Thomas Aquinas High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended St. Louis University, playing on the men's soccer team from 1982 to 1985. In 1985, Hayes turned professional with the Louisville Thunder of the American Indoor Soccer Association. The Thunder won the 1987 AISA championship, then folded soon after.
