Tirusulam
Tirusulam is a neighbourhood in Chennai, India. For administrative purposes, it is a census town in Chennai. The Chennai International Airport is located here opposite the Tirusulam Railway station, with the cargo terminal located at the adjacent Meenambakkam. Chennai International Airport is the primary airport serving the city of Chennai. The airport is the regional headquarters of the Airports Authority of India for South India comprising the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala and the union territories of Puducherry and Lakshadweep. There is also a railway station here (opposite the airport) with a convenient pedestrian subway that connects the station and the airport. The neighbourhood is served by Tirusulam railway station and Pallavaram Railway Station. The Tirusulam Railway Station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood of Tirusulam, a suburb of Chennai where the city's airport is located. It is located at a distance of from Chennai Beach terminus and is situated on the GST Road across the airport, with an elevation of above sea level. History The station lies in the Chennai Beach–Tambaram section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network, the first suburban section of the city. With the completion of track-lying work in March 1931, which began in 1928, the suburban services were started on 11 May 1931 between Beach and Tambaram, and was electrified on 15 November 1931, with the first MG EMU services running on 1.5 kV DC. Chennai International Airport
Chennai International Airport is an international airport serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu and its metropolitan area. It is located in Tirusulam, southwest of the city centre. Chennai International Airport is the sixth busiest airport in India and third busiest airport for international traffic in India. It was also 49th busiest airport in Asia in 2018 making it one of the four major airports in India under the top 50 list of 2018. In financial year 2021, the airport handled 9.53 million passengers. Pallavaram Railway Station
Pallavaram (originally Pallava Puram) is a residential neighborhood of Chennai, India. Pallavaram was a part of Alandur until August 2015 and since then a new taluk with headquarters at Pallavaram was created. The town is known for its cantonment and bustling residential colonies and is served by Pallavaram railway station of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It was merged with Tambaram Municipal Corporation. Pallavaram has a long history and has been inhabited since the Paleolithic Age. The town derives its name from the Pallava settlement of ''Pallavapuram'' of which it used to form a part. The cantonment and aerodrome were established during British rule. The British also carried out charnockite mining activities on Pallavaram Hill. History Pallavaram is considered to be one of the oldest inhabited places in South India. Tirusoolanathar Tripurasundari Temple, Tirusulam
Tirusoolanathar Tripurasundari Temple, also known as the Tirusoolanathar Temple, is a Hindu temple located in Tirusulam, a suburb of Chennai, India. The presiding deity is Shiva. The goddess is Tirupurasundari. The temple has inscriptions dating from the Pallava period. Etymology The temple gets its name from Trichuram family which ruled over the region. History Sri Thirusoolanathar, Thiruchuram was constructed by the Medieval Chola king Kulothunga Chola I and later renovated by Sundara Cholar. The temple has inscriptions dating from the 11th century CE. The Moolavar is facing east and his consort Thirupurasundari is facing south.
