Tiran Khachatryan
Tiran Vazgeni Khachatryan (; born 1977) is an Armenian lieutenant general who formerly served as the First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia. During the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, Khachatryan was conferred with the title of National Hero of Armenia. Life and career Tiran Vazgenovich Khachatryan was born on 20 July 1977 in the Armenian SSR, part of the then Soviet Union. In 1987, he joined the Proshyan Volunteer Detachment to take part in operations along the border villages of the Noyemberyan District in Armenia. During the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, from 1990 to 1991, he was a military signalman in the Armenian Armed Forces and provided communications with the border regions of the country, the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Yerevan. Artsakh, officially the Republic of Artsakh () or the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (),, is a list of states with limited recognition, breakaway state in the South Caucasus whose territory is internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan. The 2021 Armenian political crisis was an alleged military coup attempt by the Armed Forces of Armenia led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan against the government of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Nikol Pashinyan
Nikol Vovayi Pashinyan ( hy, Նիկոլ Վովայի Փաշինյան, ; born 1 June 1975) is an Armenian politician serving as the prime minister of Armenia since 8 May 2018. A journalist by profession, Pashinyan founded his own newspaper in 1998, which was shut down a year later for libel. He was sentenced for one year for defamation against then Minister of National Security Serzh Sargsyan. He edited the newspaper ''Haykakan Zhamanak'' ("Armenian Times") from 1999 to 2012. A supporter of Armenia's first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan, he was highly critical of second president Robert Kocharyan, Defense Minister Serzh Sargsyan, and their allies, frequently referring to them as the "Karabakh Clan".
