Tingya
''Tingya'' is a 2008 Marathi-language movie. It is the directorial début of Mangesh Hadawale. The movie is based on a life of a rural boy and his love and friendship with his bull. It concentrates on the hardships faced by the farmers in the state of Maharashtra, India. ''Tingya'' was screened at the Pune International Film Festival where it won the Sant Tukaram award for Best Marathi Feature Film. It also won the best film award at Mumbai Academy of Movies Images on 14 March 2008. Mangesh Hadawale
Mangesh Hadawale (born 2 September 1981 in Maharashtra, India) is an Indian film writer-director and ad-film maker. His first film ''Tingya'' (2008, Marathi) received huge commercial as well as critical acclaim. ''Dekh Indian Circus'', his second film was in Hindi and has received many national and international awards. Biography Mangesh Hadawale was born in Rajuri village in Junnar, Maharashtra in a farming family. After completing his schooling in the Government Marathi School, Mangesh moved to Pune. In 2001 he completed graduation in theater from the Center for Performing Arts (also known as Lalit Kala Kendra.), University of Pune. He moved to Mumbai to pursue his passion of films and wrote his first script ''Tingya''. It took him five years and 41 rejections to finally find a production house. Shahir Vitthal Umap
Vitthal Umap (15 July 1931 – 27 November 2010) was an Indian folk singer, shahir and social worker from Maharashtra state. Umap was an Ambedkarite and Buddhist. To illustrate B. R. Ambedkar's philosophy to the people, he wrote the song-books "Mazi Vani Bhimacharani" and "Mazi Aai Bhimai". He died while performing at a function in Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur on 27 November 2010. Umap, a follower of BR Ambedkar, collapsed while he was onstage at Nagpur’s famous Dikshabhoomi. He was rushed to a private nursing home where he was declared dead. Born in a Mumbai chawl in 1931, Umap struggled for recognition of the neglected folk genres of Maharashtra. He had toured extensively all over the state to keep alive the folk traditions. Umap had won the first prize at the International Folk Music and Art Festival at Cork, Ireland. The Pune International Film Festival (also known as PIFF) is an annual film festival held in Pune, a city in Maharashtra, India. Open to general public, the films are screened at NFAI, Inox, City Pride, PVR cinema halls, all located in Pune city. Dr Jabbar Patel is the chairman and director of the festival. The festival commences on the second Thursday and concludes on the third Thursday of January. First Edition of PIFF was started in year 2002and has been running annually except for 2004.
