Tingalpa Creek
Tingalpa Creek is a creek in South East Queensland. It flows along Brisbane's south east boundary with Redland City Council. On early maps the creek was called both Tunim Creek and Tangulba Creek. The waterway serves as important wildlife corridor on the city's fringe. The creek also provides limited kayaking and fishing opportunities. The creek's water catchment area covers 150 km². Tingalpa Creek has its headwaters in Venman Bushland National Park at Mount Cotton, Queensland, Mount Cotton and the Brisbane Koala Park in Burbank, Queensland, Burbank. It then flows a short distance through Sheldon, Queensland, Sheldon to the waters of the Leslie Harrison Dam. Capalaba is an urban locality in the City of Redland, Queensland, Australia. In the , Capalaba had a population of 17,333 people. Geography The suburb has large shopping and commercial centres with two malls and a major bus station, as well as light industrial zones surrounded by bushland and residential streets, making it the second most populous suburb in the Redlands. Burbank is a greenbelt suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Burbank had a population of 1,050 people. Geography Burbank is an outer suburb of City of Brisbane and borders City of Redland to the east and City of Logan to the south. Burbank has a number of small intermittent creeks winding between cleared and uncleared rolling hills. The main road across in the area is the Mount Gravatt-Capalaba Road. Bulimba Creek
Bulimba Creek, originally known as Doboy Creek or Doughboy Creek, is a perennial stream that is a tributary of the Brisbane River, located in suburban Brisbane in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. Course and features The Bulimba Creek catchment has it sources in the low plateaus and marshy parts of the suburbs of and Runcorn (west catchment) and Kuraby (east catchment) in the south of Brisbane. It then flows in a northerly direction through the suburbs of Mansfield, Mackenzie, Carindale, Murarrie and Lytton, before meeting the Brisbane River via the Aquarium Passage along the Lytton Reach. The creek has six tributaries: Mimosa Creek, Spring Creek, Salvin Creek, Phillips Creek, Tingalpa Creek and Lindum Creek. The Cleveland railway line is a suburban railway line extending east-southeast from Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network. History Following the opening of the Wooloongabba Branch railway line from Corinda to Stanley Street in South Brisbane in 1884, calls were made for extending the line to Cleveland to serve the developing farming area. A line was surveyed, and took an indirect route to avoid hilly country and to serve Fort Lytton, a gun emplacement at the south entrance to the Brisbane River, then the major defence installation for the city. Leslie Harrison Dam
The Leslie Harrison Dam is an earth-fill embankment dam across the Tingalpa Creek that is located in the South East region of Queensland, Australia. The main purpose of the dam is for potable water supply of the Redland City in Brisbane. The impounded reservoir is called Tingalpa Reservoir. The dam was named after Robert Leslie Harrison, a Queensland parliamentarian who died in April 1966. Location and features The dam is located between the suburbs of Capalaba, Chandler and Burbank, approximately southeast of Brisbane. The primary inflow of the reservoir is the Tingalpa Creek, not far above its mouth at Waterloo Bay. The dam is one of a number of dams connected to the South East Queensland Water Grid, and the dam provides approximately 20% of the water supply for Redland City.
