Tin Town, Missouri
Tin Town is an unincorporated community in southeastern Polk County, Missouri, United States, located on Route 215. The town had previously been known as Gold and renamed for numerous homes (at the time) with tin for roofs. Tin Town is the boyhood home of Rock-A-Billy star Ronnie Self. Polk County is a county located in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 31,137. Its county seat is Bolivar. Missouri Route 215
Route 215 is a highway in southern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 39 south of Stockton; its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 65 between Buffalo and Springfield. Except for a short section which overlaps Route 13, it is a two-lane highway its entire length. It was originally a set of supplemental routes. In the early 2000s, US 65 was realigned and the southern terminus was extended about east opposite the western terminus of Route O. The highway runs more east–west than north–south, but is marked as a north–south highway. Route description The highway begins southwest of Stockton near Stockton Lake. Two miles west (at Umber View Heights), the highway crosses Stockton Lake and enters Stockton State Park. Ronnie Self
Ronnie Self (July 5, 1938 – August 28, 1981) was an American rockabilly singer and songwriter. His solo career was unsuccessful, despite being signed to contracts with Columbia and then Decca from the late 1950s through the early 1960s. His only charted single was "Bop-A-Lena"; recorded in 1957 and released in 1958, it reached No. 68 on the Billboard charts. His boastful country anthem "Ain't I'm a Dog" was a regional hit in the South, but failed to score nationally. It reached #31 in Australia and Bop-A-Lena #25. A talented performer and songwriter, Self's career was blighted by his severe alcoholism and erratic behavior, including incidents of violence. However, Brenda Lee's recordings of his songs " I'm Sorry", "Sweet Nothin's", and " Everybody Loves Me But You" became major pop classics.
