Tin Naing Thein ( my, တင်နိုင်သိန်း, born 1955) is the former Minister of the President's Office of Myanmar, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development and Minister for Livestock and Fisheries. He is a retired brigadier general in the Myanmar Army and previously held the posts of Minister for Commerce and Deputy Minister for Forestry. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general.
