Timothy Wang
Timothy Wang is an American table tennis player. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's singles, but was defeated in the preliminary round. Wang won the men's singles at the 2010 US National Championships and repeated his victory in 2012 and 2013. He also won the national championship in men's doubles in 2011 and 2012 (with Han Xiao) and in mixed doubles in 2011, 2012 and 2013 (with Ariel Hsing). He represented the United States in the men's team table tennis event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Table Tennis
Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. Ariel Hsing
Ariel Yenhua Hsing (born November 29, 1995) is an American table tennis player who competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Hsing became the youngest U.S. table tennis national champion in history in 2010 at age 15. She repeated as champion in 2011 and 2013. She is the first player from North America to win the Intercontinental Cup in 2012 with participants from Africa, Latin America, North America, and Oceania. She was a bronze medalist in women's team and women's singles at the 2011 Pan American Games. Hsing was the women's singles champion at the North American Championships in the year 2013, and at the North America Cup in the year 2011 and 2012. During her junior career, she was ranked as high as 4th in the world in both the cadet (U-15) and the junior (U-18) age group. During the Parade of Nations within the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, athletes and officials from each participating team marched in the Maracanã Stadium preceded by their flag and placard bearer.
