Timonha River
The Timonha River is a river of Ceará state in eastern Brazil. Like many small rivers of northeastern Brazil, the Timonha River dries up between July and November and only flows during the rainy season. According to a survey by the United States Hydrographic Office, the Timonha River is too small to allow passage by boats. The river is part of the Timonha-Ubatuba estuarine system, which has the largest mangrove ecosystem in Ceará. The United States Hydrographic Office prepared and published maps, charts, and nautical books required in navigation. The office was established by an act of 21 June 1866 as part of the Bureau of Navigation, Department of the Navy. It was transferred to the Department of Defense on 10 August 1949.
