Since Donald Trump was a 2016 candidate for the office of President of the United States, multiple suspicious links between Trump associates and Russian officials were discovered by the Crossfire Hurricane (FBI investigation), FBI, a Mueller special counsel investigation, special counsel investigation, and several United States United States Congress, congressional committees, as part of their investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections.
