''Everest: Beyond the Limit'' is a Discovery Channel reality television series about yearly attempts to summit Mount Everest organized and led by New Zealander Russell Brice. Plot summary For the first season, a 17-member production crew followed 11 climbers, three guides, and a team of Sherpa people, Sherpas up the mountain in April and May 2006. The first season's six-part series included double-amputee Mark Inglis' ascent and brief footage of British climber David Sharp (mountaineer), David Sharp, who died in the attempt. The series was shot using high altitude equipment and helmet mounted cameras worn by Sherpa people, Sherpas. In the second season, biker Tim Medvetz and Danish asthmatic Mogens Jensen returned to successfully summit despite Jensen's initial unwillingness to use oxygen and Medvetz's accidental fall and hand injury. Russell Brice
Russell Reginald Brice (born 3 July 1952) is a New Zealand mountaineer. He was the owner/manager of Himex (Himalayan Experience Ltd.), a climbing expedition company. He has summited Cho Oyu seven times, Himal Chuli and Mount Everest twice, as well as Manaslu in October 2010, which was his 14th summit of an 8000 m peak. Career Brice first went to Everest in 1974 as part of Edmund Hillary's Himalayan Trust. His first attempt to climb the mountain was in 1981. In 1988, Brice and Harry Taylor were the first climbers to successfully climb The Three Pinnacles on Everest's Northeast Ridge. Brice reached the summit of Everest on 29 May 1997 and again on 25 May 1998. Himex is a Mount Everest guiding company. It was founded in 1996 by New Zealander Russell Brice. The name is a truncated version of the full name "Himalayan Experience". ''National Geographic'' said Himex was the "largest and most sophisticated guiding operation on Everest" in a 2013 article. Himex's team is known for fixing lines on Mount Everest, although in 2012 other teams did this work.
