Tim Hanley
Tim Hanley (born March 27, 1960) is an American soccer coach and former player who currently serves as an assistant coach for Columbus Crew. During his playing career, he played in the North American Soccer League and Europe. Player Youth Hanley grew up in Los Altos, California, and began playing soccer in 1974. He was fourteen at the time. In his words, "I played one half in the field, hated it and moved into nets until I retired from the professional ranks ten years later." Hanley graduated from Los Altos High School in 1978 and entered Foothill College, a two-year community college in Los Altos Hills. Although a junior college, Foothill, at the time boasted one of the best college teams in California. The Columbus Crew, formerly known as Columbus Crew SC, is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. The team is currently operated by an ownership group led by the Haslam family (also owners of the Cleveland Browns and Pilot Corporation) and former team physician Pete Edwards. Mike Hewitt (footballer)
Mike Hewitt (born 14 July 1944 in Dundee), is a Scottish retired football goalkeeper who played professionally in Scotland, Canada and the United States. After three seasons with the Scottish League's only amateur club, Queen's Park, Hewitt began his professional career with Dundee F.C. in 1970. He won his only representative honour when he was included as an overaged player in the Scotland U23 squad for the unofficial match against West Germany's Olympic XI on 10 January 1972. (He played the full 90 minutes, keeping a clean sheet in Scotland's 1–0 victory.) In 1975, Hewitt became one of the first two players, along with Alex Pringle, signed by the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League as they purchased his contract from Dundee. 1980–81 NASL Indoor Season
The 1980–81 season was the North American Soccer League (1968–1984), North American Soccer League's second indoor soccer season. Overview A total of 19 of a possible 21 NASL teams participated. New York Cosmos (1970–1985), New York and Montreal Manic, Montreal (who was moving from Philadelphia) were the only hold-outs this indoor season. Just as the season was getting underway, the Jacksonville Tea Men relocated from New England. Teams played an 18-game regular season. The four Canadian teams were realigned into one division and forced to play only one another during the regular season. This was due to early season litigation which restricted NASL teams' travel between the U.S. and Canada. The Edmonton Drillers (1979–82), Edmonton Drillers won the championship in a two-game finals-sweep of the Chicago Sting. This was the Drillers' first, and only, NASL indoor title.
