Television Sydney (TVS) (call sign TSN-31) was a free-to-air sponsors-based community television station broadcasting in Sydney, Australia. The station lost both its community franchise and the battle to remain on the air on 8 December 2015 and ceased transmission on 20 December 2015 after almost ten years on the air. The station was not replaced. History In 2003 the Australian Government called for tenders for what it called the "permanent" community TV licenses. For many years community channels in the major capital cities had operated on narrowcast licenses issued for limited 12-month periods. 783 ABC Alice Springs (call sign: 8AL) is the ABC Local Radio station in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. It broadcasts on 783 kilohertz, kHz on the amplitude modulation, AM band, with low-powered relay stations across the Northern Territory Outback. The station was officially opened as 5AL on 30 November 1948 as a member of the ABC Regional Network relaying programmes out of Adelaide, and transmitting on a frequency of 1530 kHz. The callsign was changed to 8AL in 1960 and transmitting frequency to 783 in 1978. Employment of local journalists began around 1970. Nine News is a radio news service providing the half-hourly radio news bulletins to radio stations across Australia. History On 16 September 2009, Macquarie Radio Network shut down its news website, livenews.com.au after two years of existence, citing poor financial returns. In April 2015, following the merger of Macquarie Radio Network and Fairfax Radio Network, the newsroom of 2UE Sydney was closed and replaced with the 2GB feed. Local bulletins on 3AW, 4BC and 6PR now take the Macquarie National News branding. This branding was retained until the renaming of Macquarie Media as Nine Radio in 2020. Metro Screen was a Paddington, Sydney based not-for-profit film, television and digital media training organisation. It was the NSW member of Screen Development Australia (SDA) and was located in the Paddington Town Hall, Cnr Oxford St & Oatley Rd, Paddington. Other members include Open Channel (Vic), QPIX (Qld), Media Resource Centre (SA), Wide Angle Tasmania (Tas), and FTI (WA).
