Tillamook High School
Tillamook High School is a four-year public high school located in Tillamook, Oregon, United States, as part of the Tillamook School District. The school has served the area for over 100 years. Its mascot is the Cheesemaker and its colors are red, black, and white. History Tillamook High School was established sometime prior to 1912. The 1915 yearbook indicates alumni as far back as 1904. A new high school had been built for students in 1912. Students attended this school until the 1951–1952 school year, when they moved to the current location. Academics In 2008, 77% of the school's seniors received their high school diploma. Of 173 students, 133 graduated, 17 dropped out, 4 received a modified diploma, and 19 were still in high school the next year. Tillamook, Oregon
The city of Tillamook is the county seat of Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. The city is located on the southeast end of Tillamook Bay on the Pacific Ocean. The population was 5,231 at the 2020 census. History The city is named for the Tillamook people, a Native American tribe speaking a Salishan language who lived in this area until the early 19th century. Anthropologist Franz Boas identifies the Tillamook Native Americans as the southernmost branch of the Coast Salish peoples of the Pacific Northwest. This group was separated geographically from the northern branch by tribes of Chinookan peoples who occupied territory between them. Jerry Kilgore (born November 12, 1964, in Tillamook, Oregon) is an American country music artist. He has recorded three studio albums: 1999's ''Love Trip'' on the Virgin Records label. 2007's ''Loaded & Empty'' and 2012's ''Telephone, TX'' were released on his personal Nic-Nic-Neer label. The first album produced three chart singles on the '' Billboard'' country music charts, including a Top 40 in its title track. In addition, Kilgore has written singles for Tracy Byrd, John Michael Montgomery and Clay Walker. Brian James Boquist (born October 20, 1958) is an Independent, formerly Republican, politician from Oregon; he currently serves in the Oregon Senate representing District 12. Tillamook County, Oregon
Tillamook County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of the 2020 census, the population was 27,390. The county seat is Tillamook. The county is named for the Tillamook or Killamook people, a Native American tribe who were living in the area in the early 19th century at the time of European American settlement. The county is located within Northwest Oregon. The Tillamook were the southernmost branch of the Coast Salish. They were separated from their more northern kinsmen by tribes speaking the Chinookian languages.
