Tilak Maidan
Tilak Maidan is a multi-use stadium located in Vasco da Gama, Goa, India. It is used mostly for football matches and regularly hosts matches in the I-League as well as Goa Professional League. It also hosted Indian Super League matches from 2020 till 2022 due to covid where the whole season was held in 3 venues in Goa and this stadium was one of them. The Goal end's on this Ground are referred to as the Harbour End & the City End. Overview The venue has the capacity to accommodate 5,000 spectators. The Group stage of the football event during 2014 Lusofonia Games was held here. The stadium is maintained by the Sports Authority of Goa. 2014 Lusofonia Games
The 2014 Lusophone Games was the 3rd edition of the Lusophone Games, a multi-sport event that represent athletes from Portuguese-speaking countries and territories. It was held from 18 to 29 January 2014 in the Indian state of Goa. Brazil and Sri Lanka also put in bids to stage the event. Participating delegations represented every Portuguese-speaking National Olympic Committee and other countries with historic ties to Portugal. The Chairman for these Games was Manohar Parrikar, the chief minister of Goa and the Chief Executive Officer was Keshav Chandra IAS, Secretary to the Government of Goa for Sports and Education. The Games were originally planned to be held in 2013, but was postponed and moved to the January 2014 dates. The Goa Professional League (abbreviated as GPL, also known as the Selvel Goa Pro League for sponsorship reasons) is the premier state-level football league in Goa, India. It is organised by the Goa Football Association. History The official league in Goa, called the ''First division'', began in 1951 and was organised by the Conselho de Desportos. Indian Arrows (formerly known as Pailan Arrows) was an Indian developmental football club that competed in the I-League. The club was formed by the All India Football Federation in 2010, with a main goal of nurturing young Indian football talents. The Indian Super League (ISL) is an Indian professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Indian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and their commercial partners Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), it is officially known as Hero Indian Super League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp. The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League.
