Tikkurila Railway Station
Tikkurila station ( fi, Tikkurilan rautatieasema, sv, Dickursby station) is located in Tikkurila, the administrative centre of Vantaa in the Helsinki metropolitan area. It is located approximately from Helsinki Central railway station and from Helsinki Airport. The station is considered the main railway station of Vantaa, and almost all long-distance and commuter trains stop here. Tikkurila was one of the first seven railway stations in Finland constructed together with the country's first railway between Helsinki and Hämeenlinna in 1862. It was also the only one apart from the two terminus stations to be built out of brick and not wood. The old station was converted into a museum in the 1970s, and a new, more modern station was built to the north of the old one. Connections The station is a local transportation hub. Ring Rail Line
The Ring Rail Line ( fi, Kehärata, sv, Ringbanan; formerly ''Marjarata'') is a railway route in the area of the city of Vantaa, in the Greater Helsinki Metropolitan Area of Finland. It connects Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the adjacent Aviapolis business and retail district to the Helsinki commuter rail network. The line fills the gap between Vantaankoski and Tikkurila railway stations, travelling in tunnel underneath the airport. The line started operating on 1 July 2015. Mellunmäki ( sv, Mellungsbacka) (Slang: ''Meltsi'') has been a quarter of eastern Helsinki, Finland since 1946. Serious construction of the area began in 1950 and it was originally designed for 7000 inhabitants. There are over 8500 inhabitants in the area today (2013). Apart from the grocery stores Mellunmäki does not offer many services. Most people visit Kontula or Itäkeskus for services not offered by their home district.
