Tigertailz
Tigertailz are a Welsh glam metal band from Cardiff. Their 1990 album '' Bezerk'' made the Top 40 on the UK Albums Chart and contained the hit singles "Love Bomb Baby" and "Heaven". The band reformed in 2005. History Formation and early years Tigertailz (originally Stagefright) formed in 1983 when guitarist Jay Pepper joined bassist Pepsi Tate and drummer Ian Welch, responding to their advert in Cardiff record store Spillers Records. Adding guitarist Phil Harling and singer Jim Dovey, the band amassed a local following. Steevi Jaimz replaced Dovey, and Ace Finchum replaced Welch to complete the lineup for the band's debut album. Bezerk (album)
''Bezerk'' is the second studio album by Welsh glam metal band Tigertailz. It was released on the Music for Nations record label and is still the band's most successful and well known album, having reached the UK top 40 at number 36. It is the first album to feature new lead vocalist Kim Hooker. The album takes a strongly pop influenced approach to the genre, typical of Tigertailz's sound. In 2006 Tigertailz released a new album called '' Bezerk 2.0'' which featured similar album art to the original release. On the 2009/2010 tour, Tigertailz made the choice to perform the whole album on each show. ''Banzai!'' is a 1991 album by Tigertailz. It is a collection of B sides and singles originally for Japan only. It includes a remake version of "Livin' without you", and a live version of "She'z too hot" from their first album Young and Crazy, and two covers: "Creeping Death" by Metallica and "Peace Sells" by Megadeth which hint at the direction they would take for the next album. Young And Crazy (Tigertailz Album)
''Young and Crazy'' is a 1987 album by Tigertailz, with artwork by the band's bassist Pepsi Tate. It has a heavier sound than its successor, with less elements of pop metal. It is the only album to feature the original lead vocalist Steevi Jaimz. The album was released in America on Combat records. The compact disc is now considered a collector's item, and is much sought after by Tigertailz fans. The CD was re-released in the US on May 27, 2008, on independent label Krescendo. In 2021, Metal Hammer listed ''Young and Crazy'' as one of their ten 'obscure but brilliant hair metal albums' in an article. On 15 October 2022, original vocalist Steevi Jaimz performed a one-off 35th anniversary show at the 229 in London. Pepsi Tate (10 March 1965 – 18 September 2007) was the bass guitarist of Welsh glam metal band Tigertailz, who made the Top 40 in the UK Albums Chart The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts ... in the early 1990s. Pepsi's nickname was "Boy" or "The Boy". Born as Huw Justin Smith, son of '' Dempsey and Makepeace'' actor Ray Smith, Pepsi Tate grew up in the village of Dinas Powys, just outside Cardiff. After his career with Tigertailz Justin pursued a career in television as a producer and director. His work for BBC Wales included directing the weekly politics programme, ''Dragon's Eye''. Wazbones (Tigertailz Album)
''Wazbones'' is a 1995 album by Tigertailz. Originally recorded in 1992, with line-up consisting in Kim Hooker (vocals), Pepsi Tate (bass), Jay Pepper (guitar) and Andy Skinner (drums), replacing Ace Finchum. They were signed to Amuse America, but the company dropped them. Pepper left, being replaced by Cy Dahnar. The band continued but they changed their name to Wazbones, and re-recorded the original album. The sound is a drastic change to their previous work, dealing with some kind of mid-tempo Thrash metal, but in the vein of their previous work with power ballads, and for moments emulating Slayer. Music For Nations (MFN) is a British independent record label focusing mainly on rock and metal. It was a subsidiary of the larger label distributor Zomba Records, which was a division of BMG and later Sony Music Entertainment. Launched in 1983 by Martin Hooker, Music For Nations established itself as a European leader in the rock and metal world, with early signings like Tank, Exciter, Metallica (who had three gold albums while on MFN), Slayer and Megadeth paving the way. As MFN grew, the company expanded its operation to include not just licensed acts from the United States, but its own signings. It released albums by artists including Paradise Lost, Opeth, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, Testament and countless other metal bands. Hard Rock Hell
Hard Rock Hell is a three day music festival held at Vauxhall Holiday resort, Great Yarmouth. It was previously held at Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales, and up until 2011 at Pontin's Holiday Village, Prestatyn, Wales. Holding the festival in a holiday camp gives the organisers pre-built venues and stages and because of the on-site accommodation allows them to hold a multi day festival over winter/spring months when outdoor camping is not desirable. The first edition of the festival was held at Butlins Holiday Camp, Minehead, England but the festival relocated to its current location in 2008. Demolition Records
Demolition Records was a British record label based in Jarrow, England, specialising in heavy metal and rock, with many international artists. It was founded in 2000 by brothers Ged and Eric Cook. There were also distribution offices in Frankfurt, Manhattan, and Tokyo. In 2007, the label was later rumoured to be signing ZZ Top and Whitesnake, which would greatly increase their sales, but the rumours were quickly dismissed. They also operated the sublabel DR2. ''Kerrang!'' is a British weekly magazine devoted to rock, punk and heavy metal music, currently published by Wasted Talent (the same company that owns electronic music publication ''Mixmag''). It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the ''Sounds'' newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, ''Kerrang!'' was initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s, it became the best-selling British music weekly. History ''Kerrang!'' was founded in 1981. The editor of the weekly music magazine ''Sounds'', Alan Lewis, suggested that Geoff Barton edit a one-off special edition focusing on the new wave of British heavy metal phenomenon and on the rise of other hard rock acts.
