Thursday (band)
Thursday is an American post-hardcore band, formed in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1997. The band currently consists of Geoff Rickly (lead vocals), Tom Keeley (lead guitar, backing vocals), Steve Pedulla (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Tim Payne (bass), and Tucker Rule (drums). Thursday released their debut album, ''Waiting'', in late 1999 with original guitarist Bill Henderson, who left the band in 2000 and was replaced by Steve Pedulla. The band gained popularity with the release of their second album, ''Full Collapse'', in 2001, and released their third album and major label debut, '' War All the Time'', in 2003, which reached number seven on the US ''Billboard'' Top 200 Albums chart. Thursday released their fourth album, '' A City by the Light Divided'', in 2006, and two further albums, ''Common Existence'' (2009) and '' No Devolución'' (2011), before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2011. In a January 2013 interview, Geoff Rickly confirmed that the band had officially ...

No Devolución
''No Devolución'' ( Spanglish for ''No devolution'', the correct Spanish phrase being ''Sin devolución'') is the sixth studio album by the American rock band Thursday. The record was released through Epitaph Records on April 12, 2011, and it was Thursday's final album before their five-year breakup from 2011 to 2016 and their most recent album to date. The musical style on ''No Devolución'' is a departure from the more traditional post-hardcore sound on Thursday's earlier records, and instead explores darker and more atmospheric tones. Writing and recording Thursday entered Tarbox Road Studios in Fredonia, New York with producer Dave Fridmann in July 2010. Fridmann had previously produced the band's previous two studio albums: 2006's ''A City by the Light Divided'' and 2009's ''Common Existence''. In a press release for the album, vocalist Geoff Rickly commented, "We've worked with Dave Fridmann before, but this is definitely the most we've ever clicked with him." Fridmann ...

Counting 5-4-3-2-1
"Counting 5-4-3-2-1" is a song by American post-hardcore band Thursday, the first single from their fourth album, '' A City by the Light Divided''. "Counting 5-4-3-2-1" was released to radio on April 11, 2006. The song was originally written during the ''Full Collapse''-era, but was re-arranged in a new key and was deemed suitable to be recorded. Keyboardist Andrew Everding commented on the song's meaning and corresponding music video: " ounting 5-4-3-2-1specifically comes from not being happy in the town that you grew up in and wanting to get out as quickly as possible. When we do videos, we send out a call and receive treatments and that one was one of the first ones that we got from Artificial Army. We were originally going to do two videos…a low-budget animated video and then we were going to do another video to connect it, but then we started seeing what the animation was about. We usually go back and forth with ideas. But for the most part, we trust the director. It was ...

Understanding In A Car Crash
"Understanding in a Car Crash" is a song by American post-hardcore band Thursday. It was the band's debut single and the lead single from their second album, ''Full Collapse'', in late 2001. "Understanding" was chosen for release as a single and shot by Victory Records during the band's tour with Saves the Day without Thursday's consent. The music video gained rotation on MTV2 and MMUSA upon its release in early 2002. The simple presentation features concert footage of the song's performance with shots cascading on top of one another. "Understanding" has remained perhaps the band's most well known song and a concert staple. It is usually performed together with "The Other Side of the Crash/Over and Out (Of Control)," a song from the 2006 album, '' A City by the Light Divided'', that tells the other side of the same story. Music and lyrics "Understanding in a Car Crash" has a reference to Neil Young's "The Needle and the Damage Done." Reception Kurt Morris of AllMusic chose " ...

Alternative Songs
Alternative Airplay (formerly known as Modern Rock Tracks (1988–2009) and Alternative Songs (2009–2020)) is a music chart in the United States that has appeared in ''Billboard'' magazine since September 10, 1988. It ranks the 40 most-played songs on alternative and modern rock radio stations. Introduced as Modern Rock Tracks, the chart served as a companion to the Mainstream Rock chart (then called Album Rock Tracks), and its creation was prompted by the explosion of alternative music on American radio in the late 1980s. During the first several years of the chart, it regularly featured music that did not receive commercial radio airplay anywhere but on a few modern rock and college rock radio stations. This included many electronic and post-punk artists. Gradually, as alternative rock became more mainstream (spearheaded by the grunge explosion in the early 1990s), alternative and mainstream rock radio stations began playing many of the same songs. By the late 2000s, the gen ...

Compact Cassette
The Compact Cassette or Musicassette (MC), also commonly called the tape cassette, cassette tape, audio cassette, or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. Invented by Lou Ottens and his team at the Dutch company Philips in 1963, Compact Cassettes come in two forms, either already containing content as a prerecorded cassette (''Musicassette''), or as a fully recordable "blank" cassette. Both forms have two sides and are reversible by the user. Although other tape cassette formats have also existed - for example the Microcassette - the generic term ''cassette tape'' is normally always used to refer to the Compact Cassette because of its ubiquity. Its uses have ranged from portable audio to home recording to data storage for early microcomputers; the Compact Cassette technology was originally designed for dictation machines, but improvements in fidelity led to it supplanting the stereo 8-track cartridge and reel ...

12" Vinyl
The twelve-inch single (often written as 12-inch or 12″) is a type of vinyl ( polyvinyl chloride or PVC) gramophone record that has wider groove spacing and shorter playing time with a 'single' or a few related sound tracks on each surface, compared to LPs (long play) which have several songs on each side. This allows for louder levels to be cut on the disc by the mastering engineer, which in turn gives a wider dynamic range, and thus better sound quality. This record type is commonly used in disco and dance music genres, where DJs use them to play in clubs. They are played at either or 45 . The conventional 7‐inch single usually holds three or four minutes of music at full volume. The 12‐inch LP sacrifices volume for extended playing time. Technical features Twelve-inch singles typically have much shorter playing time than full-length LPs, and thus require fewer grooves per inch. This extra space permits a broader dynamic range or louder recording level as the gr ...

Five Stories Falling
''Five Stories Falling'' is a five-song EP released by Thursday in 2002. The first four tracks are live versions of songs from ''Full Collapse'', recorded while the band performed on the Vans Warped Tour. The fifth track, a new song named "Jet Black New Year", quickly became popular amongst fans; the song featured Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance performing screamed background vocals. The EP also featured stories by each of the band members, including touring (and now permanent) keyboardist Andrew Everding. On their UK Tour in 2006, when introducing the song "Jet Black New Year", lead singer Geoff Rickly publicly urged the crowd present not to purchase this E.P. but to download "Jet Black New Year" instead. It reached #197 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Chart data on Allmusic. Allmusic. Retrieved August 7, 2009.
