''Thunai'' () is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language film, produced and directed by Durai. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Saritha, M. G. Chakrapani and Suresh. It was released on 1 October 1982. Plot Dasaratharaman is an easy-going widower with a grown son, Raghuraman. He works as a sub-registrar, and his jovial nature earns him the friendship of nearly everyone he meets. In the house near where he lives, a poor family consisting of a widowed mother and several children reside. Vidhya is the sole breadwinner of the family, while her younger brother Vijay is looking for a job. Her older brother left the home after a love-marriage and is struggling financially. Durai (born 25 February 1940) is an Indian film director who was mostly active during the 1970s. As of 2014, he has directed 46 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Though known for his work in commercial cinema, he made women-centric films like '' Avalum Penthaane'' and ''Pasi'', which won two National Film Awards. He served as a jury member of the 58th National Film Awards (India) in 2011. As of 2011, he was the vice president of the South Indian Film Writers' Association. Sivaji Ganesan
Villupuram Chinnaiya Manrayar Ganesamoorthy, better known by his stage name Sivaji Ganesan, (1 October 1928 – 21 July 2001) was an Indian actor and producer. He was active in Tamil cinema during the latter half of the 20th century. Sivaji Ganesan is acknowledged as one of the greatest Indian actors of all time and among the most imitated one by other actors. Mysore Seshaiah Suresh Babu Naidu is an Indian actor, producer, director, and dubbing artist. He has acted predominantly in Tamil and Telugu languages. Personal life Suresh was born in Sri Kalhasthi. His parents were also born in Sri Kalahasthi. His grandfather was from Nellore. Career Suresh started his career as an editing assistant and a dance assistant. Shankar–Ganesh
Shankar–Ganesh is an Indian music director duo who has worked on Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies for around 50 years. Career They started as assistants to Tamil music composers M. S. Viswanathan and T. K. Ramamoorthy in 1964 and later the duo assisted M.S.Viswanathan alone from 1965 till 1967. Kannadhasan started his own film Titled "Nagarathil Thirudargal" in which he introduced Shankar Ganesh as music directors. Udaya Chandrika, better known by her screen/stage name Radha (born 3 June 1965), is an Indian actress, who predominantly appears in Tamil and Telugu films in addition to a few Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. Sukumari Amma (6 October 1940 – 26 March 2013) was an Indian actress best known for her works in Malayalam and Tamil films. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood.
