Three Peaks Challenge
The Three Peaks Challenge is a mountain running trail that involves ascending the three major peaks above Cape Town, namely Devil's Peak (Cape Town), Devil's Peak, Table Mountain and Lion's Head (Cape Town), Lion's Head. History The route was first completed by Carl Wilhelm Schneeberger in 1897. Schneeberger completed the course in 9 hours and 5 minutes, not counting his rest stops at the old Johannesburg Hotel in Long Street after each peak. On the centenary of Schneeberger's feat, Don Hartley and a group of 13 runners took on the challenge on 13 September 1997, and the time has been continually bettered since. In 2022, the trail was used as a fundraiser to support low-fee Calling Education schools in South Africa. Records Bold = current record; an asterisk indicates solo efforts. References

Three Peaks Bike Race
The Three Peaks Bike Race is an ultra-distance bike race that has been held yearly since 2018. It starts in Vienna and crosses the Alps and, every other year, the Pyrenees. The finish alternates yearly between Nice and Barcelona. The participants have to reach three Mountain peaks or passes named by the race organizers. They have to plan and choose their own route between these checkpoints. Riders cover between 2,000 and 2,700 kilometres and climb between 20,000 and 40,000 metres. During the race, the participants ride fully self-supported, carrying their own equipment and obtaining their own food (bikepacking). The leading riders arrive at the finish line in about four days. The finish closes ten days (since 2023: twelve days) after the start of the race but participants that arrive past that point in time are still named in the classification. In 2022, 91 of 243 starters reached the finish; 81 stayed within the time limit.Sören Heim: Mit dem Rad über die Alpen bis Nizza' Allg ...

Yorkshire Three Peaks
The mountains of Whernside (), Ingleborough () and Pen-y-ghent () are collectively known as the Three Peaks. The peaks, which form part of the Pennine range, encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the North of England. Name The long-standing designation "The Three Peaks" is well known locally, and in past times nationally. However, there are now a number of "National" Three Peaks adventure challenges involving Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike (respectively the highest summits in Scotland, Wales and England). The epithet "Yorkshire" is therefore now commonly added to differentiate Yorkshire's Three Peaks from those (although Whernside is partially in Cumbria, with the summit trig point being narrowly on the Cumbria side, the whole mountain is within the historic county of Yorkshire). Geology In common with neighbouring fells, the Three Peaks are carved from an almost flat-lying succession of sedimentary strata of Carbon ...

Three Peaks Race
The Three Peaks Race is a fell race held annually on the last weekend in April, starting and finishing in Horton in Ribblesdale. The course traverses the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The present distance is about 23 miles (37 km). The first known circuits undertaken by athletes, as distinct from walkers, were not made until the winter of 1948/49. Three Leeds climbers, Des Birch, Jack Bloor and Arthur Dolphin, who were also members of Harehills Harriers, completed the course in times varying from 4hrs 27mins to 5hrs 20mins, with Des Birch setting the first record at 4:27. The first race was organised by Preston Harriers and took place in 1954 and it was thought that there was a good chance of Des Birch's time being beaten. The conditions for the race were reasonably good but with a strong easterly wind making it feel cold. The start was at the Hill Inn, Chapel-le-Dale, with six runners taking part. Ingleborough was climbed first, where the competitors were bunched together af ...
