Thorntonhall
Thorntonhall ( sco, Thorntounhauch, gd, Dail Bhaile Dhealgaiche) is an affluent village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, lying around to the south of Glasgow, and around west of East Kilbride. The village lies just east of the boundary of East Renfrewshire, close to Waterfoot and Jackton. In 2011, a street in Thorntonhall (Bowmore Crescent) was identified as having one of the most expensive average house prices within the Scottish property market, with an average house price of £908,000. History Thorntonhall has a history reflecting the social changes of the last 400 years and in particular the last 120 years. It was originally just a farm that had added to it some major buildings. The then 'hall' was bought and greatly improved by a grocer called Cooper who had shops throughout the west of Scotland. Another grand house was built at Ravenscroft, again on a small hilltop. Thorntonhall Railway Station
Thorntonhall railway station is a railway station in the village of Thorntonhall, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Glasgow South Western Line, south of . Jackton
Jackton is a small village lying just beyond the western periphery of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, on the B764 road (otherwise known as the 'Eaglesham Road') connecting it to the village of Eaglesham. It is also adjacent to Thorntonhall, and the two villages share a newsletter, the ''Peel News'', derived from the name of the road connecting the two. The settlement has recently been encroached upon by new build housing on the outskirts of East Kilbride. It lies approximately above sea level. It is also the site of one of the two Scottish Training Centres for Police Scotland. The area is served by Thorntonhall railway station, which is around away, and Hairmyres railway station, which is around away. The Gill Burn runs through the outskirts of the settlement. Peter Lawwell
Peter Lawwell (born 27 May 1959) is the former chief executive of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. He retired in June 2021 from his role as CEO. He was announced as successor to current Celtic chairman Ian Bankier on 2nd December 2022 and will take up this role as non-executive Chairman from 1st January 2023. Career Early career Lawwell started his career as a trainee accountant with Babcock Energy in the 1970s. After a career working as an executive for a number of companies, including ICI and Hoffman-LaRoche, Lawwell then went on to hold senior positions in Mining Scotland and Clydeport. East Kilbride (; gd, Cille Bhrìghde an Ear ) is the largest town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland and the country's sixth-largest locality by population. Aiden John McGeady (born 4 April 1986) is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for Scottish Premiership club Hibernian. Frederick MacAulay (born 29 December 1956) is a Scottish comedian. For 18 years, until March 2015, he presented a daily BBC Scotland radio programme '' MacAulay and Co''.
