Thorncreek Township is one of nine townships in Whitley County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 4,166 and it contained 1,894 housing units. The township has two main population clusters. The southern edge of the township consists of the unincorporated northern suburban developments of Columbia City, and in the extreme northeastern part of the township there is the unincorporated settlement and census-designated place known as Tri-Lakes. Geography According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 97.56%) is land and (or 2.41%) is water. Lakes in this township include Catfish Lake, Cedar Lake, Cedar Lake, Crooked Lake, Karen Lake, Little Cedar Lake, Little Crooked Lake, Metzger Pond, Round Lake and Shriner Lake. State Road 9 in the U.S. State of Indiana is a long north–south state highway in the eastern portion of Indiana. Its southern terminus is near Columbus at State Road 46, and the northern terminus is at the Michigan/Indiana border between Howe, Indiana, and Sturgis, Michigan, where it continues as M-66.
