A civil township is a widely used unit of local government in the United States that is subordinate to a county, most often in the northern and midwestern parts of the country. State Road 5 (SR 5) is a north–south state road in the US state of Indiana. Its southern terminus is at SR 22 in Upland, and the northern terminus is at SR 120 just north of Shipshewana. The state road runs for just over , passing through five counties in northern Indiana, mostly through rural farm fields and small towns. The largest city along its path is Huntington. It is entirely a surface highway that is very rural outside of the towns. SR 5 runs along two dams the first being J. Edward Roush Lake Dam and the second being the Wilmot Dam. U.S. Route 30 or U.S. Highway 30 (US 30) is an east–west main route in the system of the United States Numbered Highways, with the highway traveling across the northern tier of the country. With a length of , it is the third longest U.S. highway, after US 20 and US 6. Larwill is a town in Richland Township, Whitley County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 283 at the 2010 census. History Larwill was originally laid out and named Huntsville on November 13th, 1854. On March 8th, 1866 the town was renamed to Larwill in Honor of William and Joseph Larwill, who were railroad engineers. The Larwill post office has been in operation since 1866.
