Thore Boye
Thore Albert Boye (27 October 1912 – 1 October 1999) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Kristiania as a son of Supreme Court Justice Thorvald Boye (1871–1943) and Mia Esmarch (1880–1966). In 1945 he married Nøste Siem (1918–1999), a daughter of Ole Siem and sister of Martin Siem. He took the cand.jur. degree in 1936, and was an attorney and deputy judge in Tromsø before being hired in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1938. After the Second World War reached Norway on 9 April 1940, and the government fled the capital, Boye set out on skis to catch up with them. After doing so he acted as a courier to Stockholm, returned to Molde where he followed the flight of the Norwegian National Treasury to Tromsø. From Tromsø, he left the country together with the government and royal family. Thorvald Boye
Thorvald Boye (1 February 1871 – 10 December 1943) was a Norwegian Supreme Court Justice, educator and legal scholar. Biography He was born in Arendal to Albert Boye and Johanne Hansen. He graduated as cand.jur. in 1894 and dr. jur. in 1912. He continued his studies at the universities of Berlin, Geneva and Paris. From 1913, he worked in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (''Sosialdepartementet''). He also taught national and international law at the Norwegian Military College and University of Oslo. He was named as a Supreme Court Justice from 1922. Personal life He was married to Mia Esmarch (1880–1966). They were the parents of diplomat Thore Boye. Martin Siem
Ole Martin Siem (6 January 1915 – 3 November 1996) was a Norwegian businessperson and World War II resistance member. He was born in Horten as a son of naval commander Ole Siem (1882–1979) and Marie Augusta Ursin Holm (1888–1961). The family moved to Tromsø, where Siem finished secondary education in 1933. He took his education in shipping engineering at the Norwegian Institute of Technology, graduating in 1938. He also worked one year at Trondhjems Mekaniske Verksted. In February 1939 he married Inger Aagaard (1916-2012). His sister married diplomat Thore Boye, a son of Thorvald Boye, in 1945. When World War II reached Norway with the Nazi German invasion, Siem fought for his country in the Battle of Hegra Fortress. After the conventional Norwegian armed forces capitulated, Siem returned to his job at Akers Mekaniske Verksted. Sverre Gjellum
Sverre Julius Gjellum (29 September 1919 – 23 April 1999) was a Norwegian diplomat. He was born in Kristiania, enrolled in law studies in 1939 and graduated from the University of Oslo with the cand.jur. degree in 1943. This was during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, and he escaped to neutral Sweden, joined the Norwegian police troops-in-exile before travelling via the United Kingdom to Canada, where he underwent pilot training in Little Norway. In 1945 he returned to Norway and worked with the legal purge in the Oslo police. He started working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1946. His first posts abroad were as an embassy secretary in Mexico and vice-consul in San Francisco, California. He returned to Norway in 1953.
