Thoovanathumbikal
''Thoovanathumbikal'' () is a 1987 Indian Malayalam-language romantic drama film written and directed by P. Padmarajan, based partly on his own novel ''Udakappola''. It revolves around Jayakrishnan (Mohanlal), who falls in love with two women; Radha ( Parvathy), a distant relative of his, and Clara (Sumalatha), an escort in town. An experimental film, it was a commercial success at the box office, but over the years it has turned into a cult film with a large fan following. The film was ranked eighth by IBN Live in its list of greatest Indian films of all time. The film is widely noted for its rich film score and songs, dialogues and characters, detailed screenplay and Mohanlal's and Sumalatha's performance. Mathew Mullasseril Alex (25 May 1959 – 23 June 2015), popularly known as Dr. M. M. Alex was an Indian actor and a Human Life Scientist. He was known for starring in blockbuster Malayalam films, ''Rajavinte Makan'' (1986) and ''Thoovanathumbikal'' (1987) A career actor turned scientist, Alex had produced more than 220 documentaries and digitisations on World Peace, Religion, Tourism, Health Systems and Human Rights. Sumalatha (born 27 August 1963) is an Indian actress, politician who is the current Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya, Karnataka. She has acted in more than 220 films in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi. Chandrashekaran Menon, better known by his screen name Sankaradi (14 July 1924 – 8 October 2001), was an Indian actor. He was a veteran Malayalam comedian and character artist, who had over 700 Malayalam films to his credit. He dominated the Malayalam film scene in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s as a comedian along with Adoor Bhasi and Bahadoor. Later, he switched to character roles.
